    NVIDIA 4000 Series

For 600W+ that's gotta be at least three radiators and aggressive fans, right? Ignoring the loop requirements for the CPU too.

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

One thing I'm looking forward to seeing is the cooling solution for a potentially 600-800W card. Going by this image from the MSI 3090 store page the card needs at least three slots to dissipate the heat it produces, plus three PCI-E power connectors, and that's for a 350W profile. What in jolly...

What would you rate as the most important GPUs?

3dfx Voodoo 2, as it was a stonking card that ran QuakeWorld quite well. I still used software though. Nvidia 8800 GT - I recall it being a card that lasted me quite a while. Nvidia 980Ti, as it's still in use in my partner's PC all these years later. Probably the best value card I've ever...

    AMD GRAPHICS DEALS = 6900 XT @ £899, 6800 XT @ £649, 6800 @ £589, 6700 XT @ £449, 6650 XT @ £379 and 6600 @ £289

6900XT for £900? That's pretty fudging great. I recommend one if you can't wait until the next generation, especially if it's a Sapphire model. Superb card.

New GPUs this year … worth pre ordering ?

Yeah, true, there is the return window. I don't really feel right abusing it though, I'd rather wait for reviews.

New GPUs this year … worth pre ordering ?

It's arguably unwise to pre-order games, but you are often safe in the long run due to patches if you can hold out. Pre-ordering hardware makes no sense; you could end up with a rubbish product where your only option is a refund or resell. Wait until the reviews hit.

When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

Hoo boy, I guess Nvidia are still a bit dirty: https://www.theverge.com/2022/5/6/23059930/nvidia-sec-charges-fine-settlement-gaming-gpu-crypto-mining

Would you say this is right? Heirarchy chart from some user on Reddit.

Can't say if it's right but it looks sensible. It's interesting to see the lack of competition AMD provided during the RDNA era, presumably a cost of switching architecture. I bet that wasn't an easy sell to management.

Intel Updates Q1 2022 (GPU, CPU and Foundry)

Honestly I'm just glad there's a strong third player in the market now. More options means our money goes further in theory, as we can pick from a wider range of products for the same budget. Assuming Intel price their cards aggressively.

    12600k vs 12700k - VR Gaming

You'll be fine with either chip. They're stonkingly good at gaming and it'll be a while until demanding games truly saturate all those cores.

    11700K Temps

Hmm, this chip does seem to be a bit of a toss-up when it comes to temperatures. Reading this Reddit thread doesn't really suggest much in terms of cause, so before you go fiddling with BIOS settings I recommend you check the basics: Is the heatsink properly attached and covering all of the...

Nvidia becomes 7th-largest U.S. company as it passes Facebook owner Meta for the first time

It's tangential, but the TV series Halt and Catch Fire is excellent viewing if you're interested in the beginnings of the personal computer industry. I won't spoil a thing but the story is based on real events and a real company. Among many things it highlights just how easily a single product...

GPU Upgrade for Super Ultrawide Screen?

I purchased this one: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sapphire-radeon-rx-6900-xt-mba-16gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-39e-sp.html You can even read my review on the store page, which is still completely true today. Better in fact, since drivers have given noticeable performance...

AMD RDNA 2 potential longevity concerns?

I tend to play everything at 1440p@144hz native and I'm absolutely over the moon with my 6900XT. It's probably the best purchase I've made since the 980Ti all those years ago, and I imagine it's going to last me years if I keep it in good condition. I'm definitely in the "save up, splurge out"...

Why are retailers charging so much over rrp.

This is effectively the death of future PC gaming unless prices drop for the next generation of cards. I don't see how any average earner in the UK, or the average family, can afford to put four figures towards a mid-tier GPU. Not with rising energy prices, mortgages, stagnant wages, and simple...

*** AMD RADEON 6500 XT IN STOCK @ OcUK FOR £179.99 (PRICE SUPPORTED STOCK NOW SOLD OUT) ***

I reckon this card exists to get rid of the worst chips, or otherwise sell the stuff that's bottom of the power curve. Which I guess is fine what with buyer beware and all that, but my opinion of AMD has worsened after this. Especially the hypocrisy around "4GB isn't enough for gaming".

GPU Miners : The cost of honesty

Bear in mind my view on warranty and mining cards is not related to the mining causing the damage. Graphics cards break in all sorts of ways and it may not be the mining history on your card that breaks it. It may be something else entirely. Either way you'll have a much better chance if you...

AMD RDNA 2 potential longevity concerns?

On FSR/RSR: These technologies make up for the fact that this generation's efforts in maintaining playable 4K aren't entirely successful. A lot of games even with adequate hardware can't reach good detail at 4K@60 for all sorts of reasons, especially ray-tracing. I think once 4K performance...
