    Need to find Compatible Motherboard

There's absolutely no point keeping the WD Black SN750 unless you plan to upgrade your whole system in the very near future, or unless there's a reason it can't be returned. As others have said, if your current system does everything you need, then just spend £40 on a 2.5 ssd, and enjoy.

    RTX 3050 - starting at $249 (msrp)

Where have you got that 'released in the 6500XT section' from? As far as I can tell, the 3050 had, and still has its own section on the site, and that's where the standard stock was posed.

    RTX 3050 - starting at $249 (msrp)

Yeah, I amended my post when I realised I actually took a picture of the listings, with £265.99 being the lowest.

    RTX 3050 - starting at $249 (msrp)

Was I just late, or was the cheapest I saw £329? *I actually took a screenshot of pre-orders at £265.99* Doh!

    RTX 3050 - starting at $249 (msrp)

What would your suggestion be? Gibbo really does seem to be going above and beyond here already.

    RTX 3050 - starting at $249 (msrp)

Annoyingly I can't find it now, but I watched a review yesterday from one of the big boys, and it showed the 3050 being roughly as close to the 2060 6GB with RT+DLSS being used, as it was in standard rasterization. I assumed the newer RT and Tensor cores would mean a dramatic jump in RT+DLSS...

Corsair Value Select to fancy RAM?

It would be interesting to see what absolutely basic 2133 DDR4 can overclock to, which you should be able to do on your current setup.

    Time to upgrade I think

your cpu is at 100% and gpu at 50%, but what's the actual performance like?

    Need help, PC needs fixing

It's pretty clear that cpu cooling seems to be the issue. At this point i'd do what the others here have said; buy a £25 air cooler, and mount that or see if you or any friends have an old intel stock cooler you could just use to test it with. I can't believe this thread is getting on for a...

Looking For Help With PC Build

Make no mistake, an RX 480 4GB isn't a world beater by any means, but it's still a more than capable gpu for decent settings at 1080p. If it was me, as I said above, I'd take 16gb of that ram you installed, the 480, and possibly the storage, and base a new (budget )build around that. As long as...

Looking For Help With PC Build

It does seem like only 1000 series processors are supported, so unless you know someone who has a 1700/x or 1800x going really cheap (and I mean cheap), then I wouldn't bother. Most of those systems came with a single 8gb stick of 2400 ram though, so have you upgraded it yourself to 24gb...

So...The boy wants a gaming PC

Have they updated/changed the review since you posted this link? I can't see any mention of the 600/700 series, the only gpus I see the 5700g tested against are the rx560, gtx 1050, 1050ti and 1650. The 5700g appears to be significantly slower than even something as modest as a 1050 (admittedly...

Basic build, no GPU, upgrade advice?

This is 100% the way to go. Without naming names, you can easily pick up a GTX 1050 for £90-ish from used retailers, which will include a warranty. Perfect for something like Fortnite when paired with the systems you've described.

Recommend me a cheap case that doesn't suck, that'll take the Arctic Freezer series

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I've seen this a lot recently and am a little unsure what it means...do you mean you can make an offer to customer services on B-grade stock? Or am I completely getting the wrong end of the stick?

Upgrades to Future proof or not?

I edited my response before you quoted it, adding the part about 400/500 boards not going anywhere. However, from your replies to this thread, it clearly seems like you've already made your mind up on buying a new motherboard, you've just got to decide on your price point now.

Upgrades to Future proof or not?

That would be an option, but what's trying to be said is that, if your current setup suits you fine, then there's no need to upgrade now. By the time you may feel you need to upgrade your cpu (say 2-3 years time?) then there will be newer parts available, that will outperform the 5000 series, at...

Stuttering/ frame drops despite fairly good specs?

This. The PC in question is a prebuilt system, the crap they'll have put on there will be astonishing. Do a clean install of Windows (not a reset). Obviously either back-up the OS or ensure you have the original image usb/cd/partition still secure first.

What limits AMD from creating a destop APU similar in say "1080p" performance to that of the PS5?

It can't be done with current hardware, unless they found a way to include GDDR 5/6 with the APU, so essentially, no it can't be done. The use of DDR5 in the next platform will be a step in the right direction, but won't magically match GDDR6 in terms of memory bandwith. RDNA/RDNA 2 gpu cores...

If you had 500 for an upgrade.....

Completely agree with Joxeon above, that ram is rated for 3000mhz, I'd leave ram until last, get the new cpu and motherboard, and see if that ram will run at 3000mhz (which it absolutely should), and then see if you can bump it up to 3200mhz. If so, I wouldn't even think about upgrading 32gb of...
