Hi,
Had a quick look at the manual for the x72 (Could it be any less clear?) and it looks like it needs the Asetek bracket - there absolutely should be one included the base of the CPU box, under the foam with the orange screwdriver thing.
Couple of options if it's not there:
1. Send the X72...
Well, my system is now up and running..
Building a typical AOSP tag on a 1950x: 36m23s, the same on the 3970x: 13m44s
Nearly a 3x speed-up for twice the cores
What is pragmatic and sensible has rather diverged from what is desirable :D
Looks like the boards may be coming in, the Designare is now showing as in stock.
The only part I was going to carry over from my 5960X system was my AX1500i, however cowering in the awe of the ripper it seems to have expired. I went for Coolermaster v1300, which is also in the sale :)
Looks like I'm going to have everything I need on Monday apart from a motherboard! (I'm...
Looking at the Phoronix review, these seem to be absolute monsters.
I have a linux/build use case, so I've pre-ordered a 3970X.
Also, it doesn't seem to suffer the gaming related problems that the 2990WX had, so fun can still be had ;)
Unless you can get immunized against bad driving, I wouldn't worry too much about Shenzhen :p
I have been many times over the past decade, it'll be a bit of culture shock compared to Europe :)

On the RVE, putting the PC to sleep and waking it up again brings the STX to life - I'd be surprised if the same workaround does not work on the Deluxe.
Note - make sure the STX is the default sound device in windows if you have on-board enabled as windows always seems to default back to the...
Chaps,

Setup:
Windows 8.1 64-bit
5960X at stock
780GTX SLI
On board audio disabled
Xonar powered by molex/floppy (power checked with voltmeter).
Drivers install ok, card relays click during initialization and when switching outputs...
I suspect your SMART software is interpretting the health value returned by the drive as a decimal number, when it is in fact a hexadecimal humber.
64 hex = 100 decimal.
This happens because what format the drive returns the number in is vendor specific but if the drive is a newish model and...
If you're feeling really flush, Sennheiser IE8i, replaceable cable and the wires go over your ears which helps if you're trying to do something energetic at the same time :p
Watch out for fakes though.
H Izi,
I have the same spec as you - I have not seen the graphical glitches you are seeing but I've had plenty of crashes due to the Apple/Intel HD4000 driver bug that Google Chrome in particular seems to expose (note: apparently this bug is common to all the HD4000 MacBooks, not just the...
