Tips and advice for travelling to India/Thailand/China/Japan?

Just got back from two weeks in Japan (1 week for a bit of a holiday with wife visiting places we've not to been to yet, followed by a week with her parents and catching up with old friends in the Tokyo area). The thing that I've learnt from that is that Osaka seems a hell of a lot cheaper...

    iPhone 3G Case

Must admit, I do like the look of some of those Vaja ones. Need to get a case for my iPhone now, and one for the missus. I'm after a leather pouch one, whereas the missus is after a fabric type one. Hmmm, tempting.

    Problems with MobileMe

It appears that MobileMe is well and truly borked! Head over to MacRumors and watch the whingefest unfold. Shame really, because the idea behind MobileMe seems great, but boy have they done a really poor job of releasing it.

    2 Macs, 2 iPods/iPhones Sharing

Just wondering how to do this.... Current setup is this: MBP (my computer, the first Mac) has it's iTunes setup to reference the music located on a shared drive. iMac (my wifes machine). This machine has stores the music files (the music folder is what is shared). I added music to my...

    *** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

All. Been looking at an iPhone now, since my missus is jealous of my iPod Touch. Am I correct in reading the O2 stuff online in that data is unlimited. So that's data via Wi-Fi (via Cloud or BT) OR data via 3G?? If so, I guess that means my wife now effectively has a phone that she can use to...

Has Aperture 2 Come down in price

Different kind of tools. Aperture (and Lightroom) are digital photo management, RAW photo processing tools. Photoshop is a pixel editing tool. There is some cross over (indeed, both tools could be used together), but I don't think you can really compare them directly.

    Photography People please advise

Sounds like you need Aperture (or Lightroom - I'm a Lightroom user, but Aperture is going to do things much the same kinda thing) to me. iPhoto is OK-ish for just have a library of pre-edited pics, and it's funky for giving quick slideshows...... but Aperture/Lightroom is where it's at...

    neXT- Look familiar?

As a programmer, it was interesting to see Interface Builder being used. I mean, I knew the history, but to actual see it on the screen moving around makes it seem all the more impressive.

    Lightroom or Aperture

Canon 300D with RAW + Lightroom for me. Will probs get Photoshop Elements 6 when it's out. (Also use iPhoto as well, as a 'local' copy of a selection of the best processed images... the master files are all on an external HD, which gets backed up to another external HD. The one downside I do...

    Video Editing: Mac or PC?

One thing to consider if going the Mac route. If you can't afford to splash out on, or have no need for all the bells and whistles... then Final Cut Express is rather good. I have version 3.5 (running on a first generation 17inch MBP, with 2Gb). Whilst not a speed machine, it's pretty...

    Hugh's Chicken Run

When you buy chicken, do you buy a) Chicken breasts only/Chicken Legs only b) The whole chicken. If b), do you use the whole chicken, do you use the whole chicken? If you honestly already are buying the individual parts (because you have a taste dislike for certain bits), or if you buying...

    Should I get a iPhone

That's because, for the US market, it was a pretty revolutionary phone in terms of usability. Sure, you had Blackberrys... but for 'man on the street', the iPhone was a rather big leap. The thing is, in the UK (and Euro) market, we are accustomed to other things as well, so for many people it...

    iTouch vs iPhone

With me it was buy a iPod touch to complement my N73. I couldn't justify the cost of a iPhone and I don't think its quite perfect yet (I can't wait to see iPhone 2). So, seeing as I was already visiting in-laws in Japan earlier this month... I took the opportunity to buy a 16gb model there...

** The Official Mac OS X Leopard First Impressions and Review Thread **

Installed Leopard on Saturday. Clean install, after cloning my Tiger setup. Didn't get a chance to do much apart from reinstall my EyeTV software. Sunday was spent migrating across my user and my wife's user from the Tiger clone. Then reinstalled some of my apps (didn't bother with ones I don't...
