There's komoot as well. I haven't really used it as I tend to just use strava and make my own routes but may be worth a shot.

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Anyone have recommendations for some white woodwork paint for skirting/architrave? Need to crack on with our hall stairs and landing before new flooring arrives

Nice work. I started my Z2 journey a couple months ago and am only managing around 8-8.5k in an hour at sub 140bpm. That's gone up from just over 7.3-7.5k in a couple months though. Hope to be nearing that 10k mark towards the end of the year.

    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

I tried a pair and felt they were the most overrated shoe I'd read about. Very narrow in the midfoot and almost unstable towards the heel. I bought from Saucony direct and they took 3 weeks. Virtually everywhere else was out of stock so I don't think they'll be any deals for them sadly.

    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

Avoiding heel striking is nonsense, for some people that's the best style of running that suits them. If you're just beginning to run, just go out and enjoy it. If you continue, read into 80/20 or MAF training where you spend most of your time at a slow/easy pace.

Yeah, I've been using the Hoka Rincon which have been amazing except for the fact they're dead after 200 miles. I'm tempted just to get another pair of them but it bugs me that they don't last long at all. It's probably the best option for now as by the time I've worn those out, hopefully in a...

    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

Nice. Mine have gone back already. Even after completing their size finder, they were too small. The tongue was causing a pain on my foot and they did just feel pretty unstable. Shame really. Think I may just wait until the running shops open again and then try to find some new ones. Tried a...

Ah ok, I ordered direct as I wanted the option to be able to return them. Few people say they feel unstable but I don't know if that's just the youtube reviewers over analysing everything as normal. Hopefully they'll be here Thursday according to the tracking!

Saw the pic in the other thread, are they the Novablast? I've a pair on the way but Asics are so slow to ship/deliver.

Good to hear, I have a pair of the Novablast on their way from Asics. It's painful getting shoes direct from the manufacturers now since Brexit. Had to wait over 3 weeks for a pair of Saucony that turned out to be no good. Asics say it can be 10-15 working days as well :(

Sounds like too much too soon. As suggested, stretch daily focussing on hips/glutes/hamstrings - plenty of routines on youtube. Also, best not to waste a doctors time with this. They would likely only refer you to a physio anyway and a lot of those take self-referrals (NHS physios are awful in...

Both brooks and hoka offer this. 90 days for brooks and 30 days for hoka. Haven't had an issue with either returning shoes that I've tested outside. I think Adidas do the same as I had some that I took out for 7k or so and they were way too narrow in the end and they gave a full refund too. Any...

Hoka also have a similar policy albeit only 30 days instead of 90. I use their rincons for road and torrent 2s for trail. Quite a few sites have tools to help you pick the right shoe based on a bunch of questions

Should i go to sleep while working on call out of hours?

Sounds like you need a new job. What does your contract say? A salary is typically for 37/40hrs a week within a certain time period as 9-5. Being salaried isn't a reason for them to have you work all night for free

    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

Has anyone done a stint of Zone 2 training? I started running back in March last year and just ran. Made a fair bit of improvement by Christmas going from a 5k time of ~37mins to just over 25mins and happily running 4/5 days a week (~30/40km). Recently had some VO2 max testing done and its...

Garmin currently down - Rumours of Ransomware Attack

Mine doesn't count stairs but for steps, some days are completely missing, others are ok. So far they're saying it will just take a few days to sort itself out. Quite annoying as it broke my goal streak that was around 120days already..

Just noticed it's brooks who do a 90 day guarantee - https://www.brooksrunning.com/en_gb/brooks-guarantee.html Loved my cascadias from them and the adrenalines werent bad at the time so will have to take a look at their new options!

Won't be my first pair. Have worn brooks in the past for trail and Adidas supernova sequence for road stuff. The adidas ones have changed a lot since I bought my pair 4 years ago. I'm sure I've seen some site offering to accept returns even on shoes that have been worn outside, I just can't...

Any recommendations on where to buy shoes nowadays? I'm sure I've seen some places that offer trials of new shoes which is what I'm after as its not much use trying shoes around the house only to find out after a run that they're not going to be good.
