I can always switch out the graphics card later - just with the run up to christmas and some chronic overspending on monitors I'm a little strapped. I'll look at the 2900 pro's but I doubt I can afford it at the moment.

Got my system up and running (amd 3000, 2x256mb OR 2x1gb GeiL value dual chan) Anyway, when it was running it was sitting with 1 of the 1gb sticks in, but it was refusing to go dual chan with that (it gets kinda confusing after this) I reflashed the bios, and after post it failed, no error...

Mike: got it sorted mate, just gave the water block a damn good polishing re-pasted it and sat it back in, screwed it up tight and it's running sweet. WindowsXP won't take to the box but I downloaded some special customized version so that's most likely why (just finished installing linux on it...

yeah I've tried reseating the block, and that's slowed the temp raise, although not halted it - I must have edited while you posted, as the temp readings are from the bios. They are highly unlikely to be accurate, but they just continually raise... and then the system shuts down. I tried...
