I know this was like 2 years ago BUT THANK YOU. I had started getting this crackle on explosion noises and it seems like at some point the default format had changed.
Margins might be lower but those console contracts literally kept AMD from going bankrupt 5 years ago. There's no way they are going to give that safety net up voluntarily. Zen, Navi, they wouldn't exist because AMD would have gone under.
Intel obviously aren't going to compete at the high end, but if they show up in the mid-low range with product that actually exists they have an opportunity to sweep up a big chunk of market share.
Mixed views as to whether this should be allowed (I can't see a way to ban using bots to place online orders in a way that wouldn't have massive knock on effects elsewhere) but come on guys, there's nothing entrepreneurial going on here. This is just a person using a mixture of capital and a...
So I would prefer that a company value the fact that I'm a customer who bought my card from them 5 years ago and am returning to be a repeat purchaser rather than that I've been an active part of the associated community, but again, there's obviously a bit of self interest in me preferring OCUK...
I would suggest making the vouchers available to members who have been registered for at least 12 months rather than a posting criteria, but I have an obvious self-interest there! (and all I want is a 3060 to replace the 1080 that died on me last October!)
This is some really good customer support. I thought long and hard about taking the G1 offer but I fear I'm too far down the Strix tunnel to turn back now.
So the thing is my guess is that right now the OC you can get off a 1080 is going to be mostly down to whether or not you win the silicon lottery - and a Strix OC card is one that ASUS has already tested to win the lottery.
Yeah that's straight up wrong. I found out my queue position because I emailed support all worried that my order wasn't showing up on the OCUK site and was told that it was fine and it wouldn't show up on OCUK until they processed payment and also this was my queue number.
That doesn't stop you putting up a webnote and asking (provided you have your original order email still).
I was 64th when I ordered at about 2pm on release day, as of Saturday I was 22nd.
Rather hoping that means I'm getting a delivery this week. Either that or ASUS should just admit that...
I'll say one thing that I've had time to appreciate as I sit with intel's iGPU waiting for my STRIX - MGS V's Fox engine must have had some serious voodoo magic worked on it to get this optimised.
People keep writing this but it's obviously not true.
Are you going to stop buying graphics cards now? Obviously not. Are EVGA in any materially worse position than any of their competitors? Not really.
Supply is thin everywhere, cards are flying off the shelves faster than they can be...
Just phone up. I did this morning to ask if my Strix could be upgraded to Saturday delivery if they come in today and the chap on the line updated the order in seconds.
It was also gratis which I though was incredibly generous given I'm already benefiting massively from being locked in at...
I mean best case scenario the cards are in the back of a truck or in a dispatch warehouse somewhere and nobody but the shipping company knows where they are and there's no reason to believe that OCUK or any vendor rep has any better knowledge than we do.
