    Any php devs on here?

The file format that RightMove use, apparently: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/adf.html Seems from their example to be a pretty simple/hacky plaintext format, a glorified CSV really: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/ps/pdf/guides/V3TestFile.blm

    Virtual php/mysql installations

Surely there's a more elegant, secure, and resource-friendly solution than running Apache and mySQL as services on users' machines?

Look what i played with today!

It was released in the last week of June, IIRC, and I don't think it "fixes everything" but it does look like it's knocked out a lot of the more egregious issues. Such a frustrating camera — it's 90% of perfect, but the features it's lacking are so maddeningly basic and fundamental that it...

Want to clarify something with the mods please :)

It's definitely not tolerated in the HTML, Graphics and Programming forum, for what that's worth.

    Which html editor?

"Can anyone recommend me a good plumber?" "Is there any reason why you don't fix your pipes yourself?" "I don't know how to. I'd like to use a plumber." "Good opportunity to learn how to fix them yourself then!!! It'll be fun!!!"

    .htaccess redirect.

OP, what do you mean by redirect? If you mean that, when someone requests the subdomain, you want content to load from the directory, then use cPanel; if you already have the subdomain set up, but want to have people who visit the subdomain forwarded to the directory (and have the directory...

I want to become a Web Designer / Developer...

Try and get work experience somewhere. Of our last four employees, two were taken on after impressing on placements — so if you're talented but perhaps can't demonstrate that on paper, it's a potentially good way in.

    What's it like being a web designer/developer?

It depends on your personality and who you work for? My last job was developing an in-house web application in the energy industry and it was the most boring, repetitive and soul-crushing thing I've ever done in my life; my current job is working for a design agency and it's one of the most...

    CSS Help: Conditional Styling?

Yeah, put it on the parent: <li class="rmItem rmDisable"> <a class="rmLink"> <span class="rmText"></span> </a> </li> .rmItem.rmDisable { background-color:grey; } (also I'm willing to bet your use of "!important" is unnecessary and could be removed if you use/understand the cascade...

What shooting modes do you normally use?

I always used to when shooting sports. In manual, set 1/1000s and f/2.8; then auto ISO will mean the camera chooses the lowest ISO possible to get the correct EV. It's guaranteed to stop motion (unlike aperture priority + manual ISO), to get the highest degree of subject isolation (unlike...

    Big shout out to AJAX

jQuery has nothing at all to do with Prototype and never has.

Computer Science final year project Problem writeup

If LaTeX is too much you should at least use LyX or a similar WYSIWYM frontend. I wrote an undergrad humanities dissertation in pure LaTeX, I don't think you have any excuse if you're doing CS!

i'd ask how you slept at night, but i assume the answer is "coked up at the wheel of my bentley, not giving a toss"

Your next SLR - What are you looking for?

"Still waiting"? What made you think it would be released at any point other than in the four year cycle in which all Nikon pro body generations are released? D1, 1999; D2, 2003; D3, 2007; D4, 2011.

    Need fast AF lens

You should probably spend some time practising tracking stuff, really — cars on a relatively busy road might be a good choice, if you can do it without freaking out the drivers! More than perhaps anything else in photography, this is about technique and a knowledge of how your camera behaves...

    Need fast AF lens

While focussing, though? As in, you acquired focus on the plane, tracked it (while continuing to focus), and took a burst of shots?

    Need fast AF lens

I'm willing to bet the issue is 90% technique, 9% AF on the body, and 1% AF on the lens. Just because it's "auto" focus doesn't mean there's no technique and you can just point the camera at a subject and get an in-focus result.

Medium format arrives with the Pentax 645D

It's being compared to the 5Dii and the D3x because that's the market it's targeting, no? It's not like people are expecting Hasselblad users to downgrade to this, it's pretty explicitly aimed at the people for whom a D3x just isn't quite enough but for whom a Hasselblad is prohibitively expensive.

What changes are required to improve our road network?

All these people saying "educate people about…":*where, when and how is this education going to take place? Who will fund it? How will you reach existing drivers as well as new ones? How will you make sure new drivers stick to your grand new educations and don't just forget them within a week of...
