So I bought a 107 years old camera

Nice, definitely less dust on that than any of my camera kit! I can't remember the last time I took a camera out, before lock down I think :(

    Fuji X Series

Our experiences massively differ, my A9 will use 2 batteries throughout a day (as shown by others shooting all day for weddings/motorsports) and my X-T2 will get through 3... We've been round and round with this before. Our experiences differ. My Fuji bag is lighter than my Sony bag, and I get...

    Fuji X Series

No, it's about the camera system not a single camera body. You only have to use both to understand that. Even with similar systems crop doesn't directly compete with FF, a 7D2 doesn't go up against a D750. Different uses, different requirements. Battery life is fine, evidenced by the community...

    Fuji X Series

Yeah, it makes sense that IBIS is going to be the feature of the X-H1 line. Fuji holds up well against the Sony alpha offerings such as the A6500. I don't see FF as a direct competitor, cost and size put them in different market segments. Battery life is fine on the X-T2. Sure I'd like more but...

    Fuji X Series

Ignore the camera, IBIS is a feature that you will either find useful or not. If there are occasions where you find yourself at shutter speeds that you can't hand hold then either IBIS or lens IS will help. If you're shooting stuff where you like to use a tripod then neither are required...

Around the same as what I'm seeing, is this with an A7III?

Nice. I've shot full day motorsports\airshows on 3 batteries with the X-T2, ~4k shots. Not as good, but not 3x worse either. I've said the A9 is a bit better, but just not nowhere near the 3x better mentioned on here earlier.

I did already say that I get similar performance to one of the sources you quote, is just that the Fuji isn't that much worse in actual use. Certainly not the 3x you quoted earlier in my own experience. Edit: removed overly argumentative twaddle.

20fps mentioned, I can machine gun the X-T2 and get thousands per battery as well. It doesn't mean much. Couple of hours and the battery is down to 66% sound about the same as mine, so not much different. I don't machine gun, which gives a false sense of longevity. My X-T2 has the same amount of...

If you can swap a 5D2 for a Sony A7III I'd just do it, even if you just sell on there's money to be made there!

    The Sony A73/A7R3/A7S3/A9 Thread

I'd agree when you are talking about performance improvements over previous Sony bodies, but Fuji already performed better than those anyway. I use boost on my X-T2 as well, mainly shooting action and using the A9 the same way I have seen very little difference in performance. I can only assume...

    The Sony A73/A7R3/A7S3/A9 Thread

I guess it depends on how you use the camera, I use both in the same way and get very similar battery performance. Perhaps the A9 edges it but it's not a massive difference.

    The Sony A73/A7R3/A7S3/A9 Thread

Is the A7rIII that much better for battery than the A9? My A9 is nowhere near 3x better battery than my X-T2. What do you mean by focussing more accurate, I don't find the X-T2 inaccurate but the A9 does have more modes for sure with the Eye AF being a much better implementation.

Lens copy variation seems quite high with Sony? The 35mm f1.4 is another that varies which is disappointing for such an expensive lens. Certainly makes you wary of the second hand market.

From what I've gathered, adapted lenses won't work at 20fps in C-AF (only the first shot will be in focus, it won't track the subsequent shots) you have to use the low FPS setting. This is from YouTube, reviews and forums. I don't have the camera.

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

How are you finding the finger clearance when using the chunkier lenses? I've only handled the A7III with a 55mm f1.8 attached, which was nice but I can see larger lenses causing problems with my fat fingers... I just spent an age trying to find your post in the A7III thread, started to think I...

That's the beauty of mirrorless, it just inspires more confidence. The random missed focus shots just rarely, if ever happen. The prices of the 70-200 and 100-400 keep me from moving to Sony (especially as the 70-200 is top dollar but not particularly well though of by some). I expect...

Read an article the other about a wedding tog who has moved to the Fuji GFX 50 to give him that "edge" over the competition. The results did look very nice, but the cost?! :o

What trouble are you having with the X-T2 for portraits? It's what I like about mirrorless, it just doesn't miss. The X-T2 does have an eye/face detect mode, but it's not something I have ever used. I enabled it once, and it seemed to do what it says but I just use the old fashioned method and...
