    Desktop replacement with good thermals?

My teenage kids have Legion 5 Pro’s that they’re both happy with. I got a Legion 7 after returning the Omen 17.

    Desktop replacement with good thermals?

I had an Omen 17 11800h/3070/16GB/1TB SSD for a couple of weeks but ended up returning it. Build quality was disappointing. The lid felt flimsy, the touchpad felt loose and there was a little screen wobble when typing. RGB on the 4 zone keyboard wasn’t very bright at max. The screen always felt...

Dell G5 15 5500 number buttons now working properly

I’d say that you have nothing to lose by contacting Dell and explaining the situation. They might not help but you don’t know until you try. It’s important to try and be nice as it often leads to better results but do say how disappointed you are and stress how it’s having an impact on your...

    Confused between 2 Laptop choices

I got it direct from Lenovo for £1400. They only had a few left in stock.

    Laptop screen 17.3 or 15.6

I recently replaced my old laptop that has an 18.1” screen. Wanted something almost as big and got an HP Omen 17 (17.3” screen) but ended up returning it. Went for a Legion 7 instead. It has a 16” screen and I’m getting along with it fine.

Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 Softweave Plus

I bought a secretlab Titan 2020 (Targaryen edition) almost 3 years ago and am still happy with it. My daughter wanted a new chair, so following my previous good experience I got her a D.Va Titan 2022 (as it's a little smaller than the 2020). The new chair uses the softweave plus fabric and...

Glad you found something that’s going to meet your daughter’s needs. Looks like a versatile solution.

    Medion Erazer Beast X30 opinions?

I was going to suggest looking at Lenovo Legion 5 Pro / 7 but sounds like you’re not too keen on the brand. Maybe a Razer Blade or Asus Zephyrus ? Although I have reservations about the Zephyrus exhausting heat directly onto the bottom of the screen.

Omen 17 or Legion 5 pro?

Depends on the game. Destiny 2 is the only game I play that I have the FPS displayed on and that sat pretty solid at 83fps (never dropped below 70+) at QHD on the 11800h/3070 (same on my Legion 7 Pro 5800h/3070).

    Medion Erazer Beast X30 opinions?

I’ve only read a few reviews of Medion laptops, generally they seem to lack in build quality, display quality and reliability. Personally I’d look at something else, particularly with an £1,800 budget.

Omen 17 or Legion 5 pro?

It’ll run the majority of games fine at QHD/60 or better frame rates either on the built in panel (which sadly isnt gsync compatible) or an external display. The 4k performance is something else though, and while it’ll surpass 60fps in some games it’s going to struggle in others. Try it when it...

Omen 17 or Legion 5 pro?

That laptop was £200 cheaper a few weeks ago. I had the 11800h/3070 model (cost £1399 with an extra 10% off through my workplace perks site so £1260) and returned it. I found the panel to be not quite bright enough and the overall build just wasn’t quite as solid as I’d have liked (particularly...

    Confused between 2 Laptop choices

On my Legion 7 the keyboard area barely feels warm when idle or under normal use. It does warm up when gaming, mainly around the centre, the left side (WASD) doesn’t get as warm. The keyboard doesn’t get uncomfortable. The track pad area in front of the keyboard remains cooler. The only surface...

    Confused between 2 Laptop choices

Did you go for the Legion ? I recently bought a Legion 7 (5800h/3070) and my kids have had Legion 5 Pros (5600h/3060) since Christmas. I was put off the Zephyrus because the rear exhaust blows against the bottom of the screen. I wouldn’t place the rear of my laptop right against a surface, the...

    Running 4K gaming laptop at 1080p - any problems/issues?

A 4k screen will run fine if it’s set to 1080p but the on screen image won’t be as sharp as at 4k. It shouldn’t look too bad though, the image is being displayed on a 17” screen the so the scaling won’t be as noticeable as on a larger display.

Gaming Laptop recommendations for less than £1000

I’ll second the recommendation for the Legion 5 with 11800H/16GB RAM/512GB SSD/3070/15.6” 1080p@165Hz screen that’s been recommended above.

    Laptop upgrade question

I’m sure that if you call any of the manufacturer store contact numbers they would give a cost for extended warranty. I got a 3 year warranty bundled in for free with my HP Omen.

    Gigabyte G5 or Dell G15 5510

    There’s an HP Omen with Ryzen 5800h, 8GB RX6600M, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 16” QHD 165Hz screen available for £799.99 that’s worth a look.

    Laptop upgrade question

My kids have had Lenovo Legion 5 Pros (5600h, 3060, 16” QHD screen) since Christmas. No complaints and both are very happy with them. I’ve had no cause to contact their customer service/support so far, so can’t comment on that. They’re not the quietest laptops (similar to my Omen 17) when...
