Would this drive have the standard connectors that the EVO SSD uses? Just wondering if the newer drives use the same ports/cablking systems as the older drives from 4-5 years ago?

I'm looking into buying a larger SSD and HDD to increase my storage space. I've lost track with what's current in disk drives so was wondering what brands are conisdered reliable nowadays?
For the SSD i was looking into the Samsung EVO series:
For the HDD i was looking into the WD blue...
I'm looking to clone my C: drive onto a larger SSD and also transfer my steam drive (currently on a separate d: drive) to a second larger SSD. Is there any good free hardware that will do this? I'm looking at AOMEIBackUp but have no idea whether this will get the job done? Can I just copy and...
My son wants to upgrade his PC and whilst I've built several PCs over the years, I must admit, I'm not at all upto date with the current hardware or what represents a 'good' upgrade. He has about £500-600 (maybe could stretch to a little more) and wants to game at 1440p on a 144MHz monitor with...
I recently upgraded my son's PC - new mobo, cpu, SSD and ram. i've reinstalled win 8.0 but the free offer for win 10, which was on the previous machine has expired. I've tried upgrading it to win 10 but the free update won't work. Is there any way to upgrade the win 8 version to win 10 or do...
Hi All
I'm about to replace mono, CPU, hdd and ram on my sons PC but do not k ow for sure which of the three copies of Windows is on the machine? It currently runs. Win 10 but I have a copy of win 7, win 8 and win 10 to choose from. Unfortunately I need to guess the right one as the other two...
Thanks all. Quick queery - any reason why my son's computer won't boot - it gets to the mobo splash screen and then stalls. The keyboard seems unresponsive. For some reason the computer just failed to boot up one morning after a few weeks of inactivity.
My son's computer suddenly just stopped booting - which occured after a few weeks of disuse. It gets to the motherboard flash screen where it gives options to access boot menu etc but won't respond to keyboard inputs. Any ideas on how I can proceed?
Cheers
Pete
Hi All - my son's computer (which is quite old) will no longer boot despite my best efforts so i've taken the decision to perform an upgrade and hopefully fix the non-boot issue. Can anyone recommend a mobo- intel i5-solid state hard drive combination?
Also, since I have two MSI GTX 950's is...
Hi there
A new build PC won't shut down properly. The system fan lights, fan and video card fan all remain powered up after power off. I tried altering the boot order in BIOS (as this was a suggested solution) but this had no effect so I had to clear the CMOS to make the PC boot. Now when...
Just wondering if anyone had any experience of upgrading the new Asus E403 Eeebook - more RAM and larger SSD? Is this kind of thing possible/easy on a laptop?
Solved HDD not detected
Obvious really but not obvious. I went into BIOS where both drives were recognised and set the boot order for the SSD and tada! all drives appeared in windows. Quick format of the old HDD and I'm ready to reinstall :):D
@Orcvader Yes it's on the same port and power connector as before
@bledd Yes definitely in disk management
Presumably when I boot with the SSD, the OS would reassign drive letters to the old HDD and I should be able to view it? I'm wondering if the SATA ports order the drives are connected to...
@ Orcvader :
Yes exactly right. win 10 OS was installed on the new SSD without the old HDD plugged in, and no, I can't see the old drive in disk mangement once I plug the old drive back in and boot from the new SSD.
