I use m0n0wall on quite a high end setup.. and it's extremely good. I use it on a WRAP motherboard, and it's easily as stable as a Cisco ASA/Pix unit (although, throughput is a lot less)

The noise is fine when it's being normal.. as soon as it spins up to 4000+, it's just unbearable. That fan definetly won't fit into the case, hehe.

Hiya, Just installed a P4 805 Dual core with the standard heatsink/fan. Under CPU load, the fan spins up to about 4600rpm and sounds like a jumbo jet. I'm guessing the CPU is just getting hot so speedfan is cutting in. Has anyone else had this? Is it worth taking the heatsink off...

The easiest way would be to setup a PPTP VPN Server on the Windows Server machine, then just connect in from Windows XP.. Best way would be to, as said above, have an IPSEC tunnel between two routers either end. :)

The DG834 doesn't do VPN? Only pass-through? I guess you are using XP's "VPN"? with a port forward setup to his PC.. TCP 1723?.. (I think Passthrough takes care of GRE etc..)
