    Graphics card recommendation?

That, to me, doesn't seem like a worthwhile upgrade unless I'm missing something?

    Graphics card recommendation?

Q6600 is clocked at 3ghz, doesn't seem to go any further in this mobo :( Are ATi cards good with hardware acceleration in apps? I always see people posting about nVidia cards and CUDA. What would the nVidia equivalent be? I think a full upgrade will be done next year but I may possibly...

    Graphics card recommendation?

I'm not looking for a rebuild, just a new GPU if it'd increase FPS in games and lower encoding times.

    Graphics card recommendation?

Hi all, This is my first post since 2009! I guess I've been pretty happy with the performance of my PC since then only having upgraded RAM and HDD (to SSD). Current spec is as follows: Intel Q6600 95W Abit IP-35 Corsair HX 520w PSU 8GB RAM ATi Radeon 4890 My PC usage has changed...

    8800GTS *Video* tearing issue.

I made an attempt to record the tearing. You can see it throughout, but most clearly during the monkey and the crane and after the 45 second mark. Here's a link to the video: http://www.dailymotion.com/foreveryonetouse3/video/6792529 Unfortunately, I don't have the bandwidth to host the...

    8800GTS *Video* tearing issue.

Tried it over D-Sub with just one monitor, still does it (tried both monitors too).

    8800GTS *Video* tearing issue.

I'll give it a shot, can't see it helping. And as I have dual monitors (thus, I use both connectors), the tearing appears on both monitors.

    8800GTS *Video* tearing issue.

Well obviously turning on V-Sync works in games, but this is for VIDEO. Tearing happens in video on the desktop, as I said before in the original post.

    8800GTS *Video* tearing issue.

I rebooted and it still does it. I tried uninstalling the drivers (completely, using Driver Cleaner), installed the latest beta 169.28's and it's still doing it :(

    8800GTS *Video* tearing issue.

Nope, no other PCI-e cards (just made the switch). Do you know of any high street stores with a no quibbles return policy? It would be worth buying a cheap card to test if it is the card or another component..or any kind soul in Stoke with a PCI-e card could borrow me one for a day to test...

    8800GTS *Video* tearing issue.

Thanks for the reply. I've enabled it but it still happens..do I need to reboot for it to take effect? Also, I'm using the 169.21 drivers. It's really really annoying to see tearing :(

    8800GTS *Video* tearing issue.

http://www.yoimg.com/i/203311053-nvidia.jpg As you can see, no advanced tab. Name a player and I've tried it. It especially annoys me with .mov files (using quicktime alternative) and also when using my TV Card software (Nebula Digi TV HD).

I don't have 'adjust video settings' in my nvidia control panel, only 'adjust video colour settings'. Could you take a screen shot of what you mean?

    8800GTS G80, worth 'upgrading' to a G92?

It's the XFX card I have, not the EVGA :( I didn't realize there was such a program in place, that's pretty cool.

    8800GTS G80, worth 'upgrading' to a G92?

As the title says. I've had my 8800GTS (G80) since friday, pretty happy with the performance and how quiet it is. However, I now wish I'd have waited a little bit longer for my new build. Having seen the benchmarks, there's quite a substantial gain at higher resolutions (which I play at...

Does New Mobo still mean New install?

The build itself only took about 2 hours, with a bit of time devoted to a brew and a sandwich. Whilst I'm waiting for a possible answer, I might aswell do a fresh install on the new hard drive and get cracking with that :)
