Aah, got you. So they're listing either speed. I'm thinking now of getting the 5700x now for a bit more grunt and hopefully future proofing. Is that worth the extra dosh?
Hi guys, sorry to revive this thread. I'm about to buy the processor 5600x, and I'm seeing a couple of options and speeds. I can see 3.7 or 4.6. The cores seem to be the difference. Can anyone bail me out? I'm likely missing something obvious.
Edit: Actually I think I'd go for the 5700x if...
I've done the Motherboard updates and I'll order the Chip (5600x) this week. I've also set my Memory to 3200HZ too, no idea why it was sitting at 2600MHZ
In terms of the Graphics Card I'm not sure whether to buy a 3070 or 3080 right away, or wait to see if there's any\enough improvement from...
Thanks, that's good to know. I've checked the DDR again and I messed up (I'm easily confused) It's rated 3200Mhz, running at 26.66 It's (I'm not that Savvy) Buying the AM4 I'm almost certain was on advice from this forum so it's probably thanks to you guys.
So we're saying, the board is...
Hi All, I'm ready for an upgrade but I'm crap at keeping up with the latest gear.
I'm torn between whether to buy a new gaming PC or whether there's enough of my current machine that's still worth hanging on to and going the upgrade route.
I'm aiming for a mid\high end gaming machine (Ray...
Totally agree, and I'm still planning to get the 5700 at least, but I can muddle through till 1st sep for the Nvidia announcement I think.
But the advice on the current state of play has been really useful. Thanks so much.
SOLVED: Well this is embarrassing. In my haste to set up my new monitor, I incorrectly assumed HDMI1 was the fastest port if indeed there was any difference.
Not only is there a difference, the difference is that HDMI1 is capped at 60Hz and furthermore doesn't support Freesync.
Today was a...
I might have cracked it.
I got the Samsung C27JG56QQU 27" WQHD 144Hz VA Curved Monitor. It advertised AMD Freesynce, which I had been told would be compatible with GSync (Nvidia Cards) too.
Could this be another nail in the coffin of my 1060?
Free sync option greyed out on the monitor OSD. I know for a fact that the moniotr has it as it was the reason I went for it. I'm connected to the 1060 by HDMI, could that be a reason?
Yep, a friend has also recommended waiting for Nvidia, if only to enjoy the price drop on the 5700 if the Nvidia cards aren't worth it.
It's so tempting to go now especially when I've got frame rates dropping to the 30's on some games on the bigger monitor, but common sense says wait.
Thanks again for all the advice guys, I'm fairly sure I'm going to go for the 3700 now, but it's been a while for me and I'm a bit out of touch on all the variations there are. Any tips?
