Thanks for taking the time to share all that. This is exactly what makes forums like this so useful. Nice one

    Custom loop temp control

Love it when a plan comes together. You can watch it and tweak as it goes. I always set 100% fans for extreme cases and like my water temps to be as close to 30 as possible. Summer is a challenge, but right now I can barely hear my PC even when it’s going for it. Best thing about winter!

    Custom loop temp control

Yep. Mine didn't need changing, but in the bit where you do the fan speeds you’ll see options to ignore zero rpm and set warning temps etc. It will take a little bit of tweaking to get your fans just right to control the water temp, but once done it makes so much more sense and you’ll love it...

    Custom loop temp control

It does make sense. The CPU header often can’t be reassigned while all the rest can. I just don’t bother with CPU, and instead use CPU-OPT, System 1, system 2 etc. So yeah, you can just move to CHAS-FAN2. Unless I’ve misunderstood what you’re saying.

    Custom loop temp control

My temp sensor (that came with the MB) is just placed above the top rad, sandwiched between it and the case. I set my temps to respond to EC_TEMP1 and ask the motherboard to ramp up speeds as it approaches 30c. Water temp (according to the sensor) rarely goes above 32 unless it’s peak summer but...

32GK850G Stuttery when fps below 80

I had a thing with PUBG where for some reason it just went to 60hz and felt like utter crap. I’m kind of amazed how used to frames I’ve become. Anyway, I went to the desktop and changed the refresh back to 160hz and all was good again. Maybe check your refresh rate. I’m thinking it’s so...

EK Active Backplate Waterblock install for 4090 FE

Check this out. A dew calculator. https://waterleak.co.uk/home/leak-detection-equipment/dew-point-calculator/ I don’t know the relative humidity in your kitchen but if its 50 and your temp is 20c then the dew point is 9c! So maybe proceed with some caution as if the water gets low enough...

EK Active Backplate Waterblock install for 4090 FE

Ah well I think it’s a lot more likely where the air is warm, because it can contain more moisture but even cooler air can and will condensate at a point. I’m not sure the deltas or pressure requirements, but sub zero temps are a problem at any temps in someone’s home… I used to use soft putty...

EK Active Backplate Waterblock install for 4090 FE

Cheers! It is nice having this colder weather to play with. It’s when it gets to summer that I despair as even WC can get noisy and your 24/7 settings get tested, so now I’m under volting on my CPU and it’s basically still just as fast. In the old days I remember using a vapochill and the...

EK Active Backplate Waterblock install for 4090 FE

I don’t overclock anymore anyway, for me it’s really about giving it the easiest life and getting as quiet as possible (along with the pleasure from putting it all together) I take it there is no drawback from a ‘running stock’ perspective in using either EK kits? Edit - just did a quick bench...

EK Active Backplate Waterblock install for 4090 FE

Damn. Reading this thread has really got me thinking. I’ve an order for the EK block including ABP, but I’m wondering if I should cancel and just stick with air. It’s basically silent and if the vram is on the same side as the GPU then I guess there’s no avoiding cooling the memory… Hmm. Would...

    LG 38GL950G - 3840x1600/G-Sync/144Hz

You can return it within 14 days without a reason, so if you unpack it carefully and find dead pixels you can send it back. I’m only a sample of one, but mine has been great and most folk aren’t likely to post on forums unless they are asking questions or posting about problems which leaves...

LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

Cheers fella, I scratched the itch and would agree. It is a slightly better panel, and 120hz / gsync etc is nice, but the main upgrade for me was going up to 65” - a frivolous spend and really not justifiably worth doing even from the 2015 panel tech.

Have you got other ports in your PSU for GPU power? If so try them.

The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

Yeah, it was the fact it was so close to the water channel that got me interested in seeing the work you did. Good job managing it and keeping it working. I’m loving how quiet my system is with mine in - well worth doing.

The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

Interesting. I would expect that to be an exact reference copy, as per the others (same as you I imagine). I test fitted against the PNY and Palit boards and they both fit, so fair warning for KFA owners. What have EK said and any chance we can see the work you did or is it too late for photos...

LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

Anyone gone from an ef9500 to one of these? I know panel uniformity was meant to be poor on those 2015 models but i seemed to get a really good one so apart from the refresh rate, gsync and a couple of features that appeal to me as a gamer, would the panel upgrade actually feel worth it? It’s...

How do you return it if you’ve been using it? Are retailers cool with that? Or do you just wrap it really carefully and promise it was never used?

The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

You could always flash the bios and see how it does with a 390w power limit? Strix should let you get up to 500w with the right bios (and it’ll use it). Assuming temps are in check I would expect a gigabyte master or OC bios to get you to above the 2ghz mark simply enough, just don’t use a bios...
