    Hard drive (HDD, not SSD)

Do the back up and then remove the hard drive from the PC? Better to just get an external and plug in via USB whenever you want. £85 should get you 5 to 6TB external. Wouldn't pay more than that.

Guidance for PC upgrade for gaming

Would you look at that. I just retired my old PC, still wondering what to do with some of the parts. I had the same motherboard as you, paired with the same RAM (but 12gb worth), same CPU cooler, x5650 and GTX 970 (EVGA SSC 2.0). I didn't play Warzone often but was able to hit 60fps at 1080p...

    Hard drive (HDD, not SSD)

Yeah external is great for a back up. 5TB can typically be found for £80 odd too

    Hard drive (HDD, not SSD)

I have three very old Barracudas that have been running fine for general longterm storage so I think you'd be fine with that tbh. Had both my greens and one blue for over 10 years now

    Upgrade to 11400 from 4790 ? whilst keeping a GTX 970

Just scanning online, I'd assume the Aorus Elite is better than the DS3H 12+1 power phases vs 6+2 on the DS3J. 9 USB ports on the back panel vs 5 on the DS3H. As long as the price difference isn't much, I'd take the Aorus

Arctic LF2 280mm won't fit properly. Any suggestions?

Because of the fat booty on the motherboard, with the aio installed first, I'm not able to align the motherboard with the mb standoff that's on the case. If I push the radiator in, to the point that the front io cables are squashed, it fits at the top, but then the front two screws of the rad...

Arctic LF2 280mm won't fit properly. Any suggestions?

Yeah I've tried the front but the radiator with fans was too thick with cables down. With cables up it doesn't go against the case unless I squash the front io cables up top to the point of probably breaking them. May just go zip ties and be done with it

Arctic LF2 280mm won't fit properly. Any suggestions?

So, recently decided to build a new rig after getting a 3070. Ordered an Aorus Pro x570 mobo, arctic liquid freezer ii 280mm AIO and a corsair 4000d case, also ordered low profile ram so I thought I was set..............nope. Initial idea was to mount it to the top, problem is I can only screw...

    Ideal hard drive setup

My work projects take up a lot of data alongside bluestacks builds and VMs which perform a lot better on my SSD. I'm just going to use it as a scratch disk.

    Ideal hard drive setup

I already have 3 externals that total 18TB lol. I'll just use it as a scratch disk and other temp files here and there.

    Ideal hard drive setup

True, I am at the limit on my current build with the OS on 250gb SSD though, plus I'd prefer the OS on the NVME drive

    Ideal hard drive setup

ahh! see I didn't think of using it as a scratch disk, that's what I'll do and maybe some games that I don't play too often. I do have some disk drives that I use for long term storage and media playback and plenty of externals too

    Ideal hard drive setup

real world might be different, but in terms of actual specs 970 Evo Plus M.2 NVME - 3,500/3,300 MB/s 860 Evo SATA 6 - 550/520 MB/s

for an extra 15 quid what about an Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 240mm for AIO?

    Ideal hard drive setup

Pretty simple question but curious as to what people would do. I've got a 970 Evo Plus 2TB that I plan to use for OS + games on my new build. I also have a left over 250gb 860 Evo. What would be the best use for it? More programs? More Games? Video editing drive?

OC pre build or build myself

I feel like that £110 you're spending on windows could be put to better use honestly. You could step up to a Ryzen 7 5800x for only £30 more. You could go with 32gb ram instead of 16gb. Or perhaps a 1tb sn550 or 750. And seeing as you want wifi, you could go for TP-Link Archer TX50E AX3000 Wi-Fi...

OC pre build or build myself

Well what I built for myself should definitely be good for 1440p at your budget, but you will need to fight to get a graphics card. Custom build will absolutely be more cost effective for what you get in my opinion, but broken record time, it is not easy to get a 3060ti or 3070 (my...

OC pre build or build myself

Discover the UK’s Leading Custom Gaming PCs | Overclockers UK I would start here in that case. Do you have any idea what resolution you will be playing at? What type of games do you want to play?

Please critique my gaming/work build whilst waiting to get a 3070/80

Ended up getting the 280mm for £80 from elsewhere Fuma 2 was basically £60 after delivery. £20 for an upgrade, maybe overkill? but eh, it's been bought and will be here tomorrow :D

OC pre build or build myself

I was in your shoes only about a week ago. I decided to build my own machine and wait for FE drops from somewhere else. Managed to get one yesterday morning and it'll be with me today. Even if I did not get an FE yesterday, I would've regretted going pre-built. Only problem is that the certain...
