Monitors for triple 32" 4K setup

Thanks a lot guys, luckily I don’t need to buy these quite yet. Hopefully in a few months there will be some more choice for 32” 4K displays. I think I will hang on for now.

Monitors for triple 32" 4K setup

Hi guys, I'm looking for any recommendations for a solid 32" 4K monitor. The idea is to buy 3 of these for a triple monitor setup. Main use will be work (lots of VMs running, RDP sessions, coding etc. - I work in IT) and I need lots of screen space. But I would also like to game on it (using...

    High RAM latency - Threadripper

@mrsim Sure. The second GPU was a little overkill tbh... In answer to your questions 1) I'm quite happy with the Enermax cooler, temperatures are kept around 36C usually (but it's quite warm in our house always!) and I don't think I've ever seen over 64C during heavy benchmarking. I did change...

    High RAM latency - Threadripper

Ok, thanks. I guess that's just due to the 2 die setup.

    High RAM latency - Threadripper

Hi, I have a new build with a 1950X Threadripper, X399 Gigabyte Designaire Mobo and G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB (4 x 8GB) PC4-25600 - F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX - the RAM is certified for the mobo and the CPU. Everything seems fine with performance but I noticed that Passmark RAM benchmark puts the...

    1080Ti fan noise

Thanks. I guess I'm going through the 'paranoid - is everything ok phase' that follows a new build! The whole system is generally very quiet. With nVidia Control Panel setting for Power Management Mode set to 'Optimal power' the fans on both 1080Ti cards don't even run when in Windows as they...

    1080Ti fan noise

Just a quick update on this... this is clearly an issue with the graphics card design. I found a YouTube video which perfectly shows the oscillating whine from the fans https://youtu.be/irlz14dww34?t=2m1s - after a few seconds you hear the changing whine up and down. I guess there is no way...

    1080Ti fan noise

Thanks. That makes sense. I will test further. I actually came across another website where someone described their GPU fan noise as ‘pulsating’, that’s very similar to the noise I have. Strange thing is I don’t know if I had this problem a week ago...

    1080Ti fan noise

It’s definite not coil whine. I test it when the GPU is not under load using MSI Afterburner to control the fan speed alone. It’s not very loud but it’s a continual noise with some variation. I don’t know the rpm but I hear it pretty much from 27% fan speed up to 55% or so... after that it tends...

    1080Ti fan noise

Hi, I built a new system around a month ago. A 1950x, 32GB with 2 Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti OC Edition cards in SLI. I’ve got a SeaSonic PSU 1000W Titanium Prime - I also have a line interactive UPS. Both GPUs make a whining noise when the fans hit certainly levels, it’s definitely coming from...

    Reality check - new build

I’ve tried running 3dmark again and scores are still lower than before. Rolling back drivers to what they previously were etc. Isn’t changing anything. Previously around 16500 on Time Spy, now getting very close to 16000. I guess at this stage it’s more about curiosity than anything else...

    Reality check - new build

Thanks very much. So I should setup pump to Voltage regulation, not PWM in the bios? I assume I should just keep it running at max all the time? Will check nVidia driver settings. Re. the noise I know it’s subjective and I need to be realistic about what to expect. Putting my ear within 30cm...

    Reality check - new build

Hi, I think I’m in need of a reality check. I’ve built a high end system in the last 2 weeks (1950X, 32GB 3200MHz, 1080Ti in SLI...). Everything appears to function fine except for the following niggles... 1. It’s a Fractal Design Define R6 case with open vents to the top. When I listen close I...

GPU (edit: PSU) fans suddenly ramp up for 1 second randomly

Ok. I have answered my own question here. The 'silent' button on the PSU was on - i.e. no fan at low power draw. The ramp up sound was from the PSU when in this state. I have switched off 'silent mode' and now the PSU fan runs constantly preventing the ramp up...

GPU (edit: PSU) fans suddenly ramp up for 1 second randomly

I just realised this isn't the GPUs.... I can only attribute it to the PSU (Seasonic). A Titanium Prime 1000W - anyone with the same issues?

GPU (edit: PSU) fans suddenly ramp up for 1 second randomly

Hi Guys, Wonder if anyone had any ideas about an unusual fan issue I've having. Randomly and for no apparent reason my GPU fan(s) seem to kick in for literally a second and then go silent again. When they kick in it sounds like they are running at full speed (edit: or starting to ramp up to...

CPU light on mobo X399 TR - no POST

I’ve decided to replace the board and pump. Easy enough to swap as it’s new. I guess I’ve been mostly lucky with older builds as never had hardware issues before...

Looking for a new MMORPG(WoW) Gaming Mouse advice?

I used the G600 when I played WoW. Great mouse. Only issue I found was that I couldn’t easily access some of the buttons on the side towards the front without adjusting my grip. So for PvP I mostly bound the rear grouping of button and used the front buttons for infrequent abilities.

CPU light on mobo X399 TR - no POST

Thanks. Yes. I would have thought that I would at least get an on screen warning. Given the rapidly changing diagnostics codes on the mobo - which literally change 2-3 time per second constantly. It suggests that the mobo is faulty. Unless someone else has seen this problem with the...
