    Ego power tools.

They are a little more upmarket than that - Ryobi are TTI's DIY toolset (with Milwaukee being their pro range). EGO are trying to cover premium DIY (hence 5 year warranty) and more affordable entry level stuff, and then competing with Stihl and Husky on the pro range of tools / mowers (hence...

    Ego power tools.

I invested last year. Brilliant kit and super performance. The mower with a 4ah battery is unstoppable - wet thick long grass, no issues at all. I get 4 cuts on a charge (relatively small garden). Headlight is a gimmick but build quality is excellent. I got the chainsaw - the new 16 inch which...

    entry level table saw

I had it connected up to dust extraction - I have a pretty well furnished wood working shop but the Evolution table saw was dire. Should have learned from the mitre saws (sent two back due to too much bearing slot cutting mitres at full extension). I try to buy Festool these days where...

    entry level table saw

I made the error of buying the Evolution - it was massive, noisy, had an awful fence and made so much dust, it could only be used outside. Sold on FB marketplace at a loss and I ended up getting a track saw, but the have my eye on the dewalt table saw.

    Sanding machine

The Makita Red tools are good - Chinese versions of their normal blue stuff. About £40-50 at Screwfix - I would get the random orbital (circle) and a normal rectangle orbit. For £80-100, that will cover 95% of sanding jobs you will ever come across. For the stairs, get some 40 or 60 grit, and...

    Shed planning permission height question

Two things - buildings regs and planning. Planning within 2m of the boundary, it needs to be less than 2.5m from the highest adjacent ground (so it could be much higher than 2.5m on one side if built on a slope as an example). Over 2m from the boundary, it can be much taller. In terms of size...

Advice for DIY install of bathroom and waterproofing walls - can I tile a dot and dabbed wall?

I have just done exactly this - I am replacing a shower tray whilst trying to minimise disruption (it was all done recently floor to ceiling tiling, but the numpty who fitted the tray did an awful job!). I cut out the tiles around the tray, remove it and had to use a flexi to retain fall...

Fire Thread! - Stoves, Wood, Axes, Chainsaws

To be fair, the tree was heavily overhanging the road and had to be taken down in a way to avoid taking out the electric cables intermingled within it and the dry stone wall it was growing up against. Two guys, about 5 hours on a Saturday and did a great job tidying up. I chipped the brush and...

Fire Thread! - Stoves, Wood, Axes, Chainsaws

All done by axe  First couple sessions (in the 30 degree heat wave) had me pickled the next day. My arms, shoulders and back are used to it now haha!

Fire Thread! - Stoves, Wood, Axes, Chainsaws

Had a large Cherry tree taken down a few weeks back - only cost £400 on the basis I sorted all the brush (tip) and logs (firewood!). Took a couple days sorting and organising the brush, and then worked through trimming the branches and logs into splittable size using the chain saw. Splitting...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

Ours is still rolling on. We are good to go on our purchase and our sellers are all set as well. My buyers have been dragging their feet, but we sent enquiries back a couple weeks ago now. Just waiting for them to sign the contract! Hopefully this week and we can exchange Friday to complete on...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

Depends on your surveyor. 90% of the RICS homebuyer surveys I have reviewed have been worthless as they are just copy and paste jobs. If you google, you can get a generic report they follow. Expect lot's of "ambers" - electrics need an inspection, Boiler may need replacing, etc. with bullet...

    Surface Laptop Go

I suspect because Tiger Lake doesn't have the same budget option. This is rocking the i5-1035G1. The lowest 11th gen is the i5-1135G7 which is comparable to the chip in the surface laptops (i5-1035G7).

    Surface Laptop 3

I sent an XPS 13 back as it fired the fans up all the time when just browsing/Youtube. The SL3 is silent!!

    Surface Laptop 3

How is everyone getting on with their SL 3's? My 256gb version is great - really happy with it. It does creak slightly on occasion if I pick it up from one size, but I love the look and feel still. The i5 is great and really impressed with the onboard graphics.

    Surface Laptop Go

I am a big Surface fan and love the look of the new Surface Laptop Go. The base 4gb Ram model is pointless, but the 8GB looks a good buy. If the keyboard is as good as my surface laptop 3 and it has the same build quality, looks a killer budget student/parent laptop. I use an original Go when...

Organising Work and To Do Lists

Thanks guys, all useful. I've played around with Trello and Asana today and like both. Although, revisiting Todoist...I'm not sure why I left. A bit of time spent in IFTT and I have managed to automate some admin I have to do when prospecting leads as well. Good to see what else other people...
