I spent quite a bit of time silencing my last rig.
You need to take it slow. Identify the loudest component and silence that first, then work your way through the other components in order of loudness.
1) CPU stock cooler - replace with artic cooling Freezer 64 pro
2) GPU hs/fan - replace...
I have the hiper 580w psu and p180 case and to get around the space problem I switched the 38mm fan in the bottom compartment with the 25mm fan from the top blow hole.
It was a bit tight but did manage to use bottom fan.
Mine does that too.
Not something I think is a problem. I would put down the the nature of design, not a fault. The monitor is not 100% rigid but springy when you push the top of the monitor it does flex by about 1-2cm before hinge moves.
Are you sure?
I just read a review on another site that says the X1/X2 are one of the best coolers out there and are 6 degrees cooler at load using the dynamic fan setting compared to the default cooler.
For the X1, the review was quoting GPU Load temps:
Accelero X1, fan @ 25% = 58 degs...
I also have not noticed any white screen flicker.
I checked the screen using pixel buddy and I did notice the backlight bleed that is apparent on everyelse monitor as well. It is worse in the bottom right hand corner but once I adjusted the brightness level it got better.
The backlight...
My Phillips monitor just arrived by courier. I have set it up initially out of the box and just adjusted the resolution.
omg it's amazing.
I have gone from a 6 year old Samsung box standard 17" CRT to this and the image is fantastic.
I don't appear to have any dead/stuck pixels and the...
Can you guys recommend some tests I can run on the monitor when it arrives. I have thought of the following:
Backlight bleeding - I'll set to black back ground and look at it. I'll also play a couple of dark games - Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Doom3.
Dead/stuck pixel test - is there...
I've been reading this post for a week or two now and ljt's review and pics have sold it for me. I am ordering now and will let you all know how things go.
Hopefully OcUK will get it delivered by tomorrow.
Thanks for info Mrchu. I'll bear that in mind when tinkering next time.
I have just fitted my new tagan 430W U15 powersupply and after resetting my mboard bios it worked. Great.
I was really impressed with the tagan. Wish I'd bought one of those instead of the hiper 580w for my main rig...
That's what I thought Nat. I have will have to test everything when psu arrives on Tue. Fingers crossed.
I used one of those psu power checkers to total up load off system. It was pretty close to limit (331W). CPU was oc'ed and had multiple drives/cards.
hey ho. live and learn.
Thanks for the tip muckymick, i'll check it out now and report back. I'm still waiting for my replacement psu at the moment. Damned supplier is waiting on part.
Asus are a good board manufacturer, I have one and have had no probs. If your budget doesn't stretch then the Asrock 939 dual is supposed to be pretty good as well, when the bios is flashed it opens up the fsb for o'cing.
That's good to know, I just ordered the Tagan TG430-U15 430W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-007-TG)
Should do the trick.
Just need to figure out if I can fix the motherboard, else it's a new mboard as well.
I'm just waiting for a replacement PSU at the moment. I ran a quick test using my other rigs PSU first off.
Resetting to BIOS defaults is a good idea. I'll try that as soon as the new PSU arrives. Can't handle dismantling my other rig again.
thanks for the tip Black Knight.
Help me please,
My 330W Antec PSU blew up the other day. I replaced the PSU but now the pc won't get to the POST screen.
The monitor works ok and with power to the gcard I can see text ok but the screen just displays processor as 1100Mhz and RAM as 1Gb.
I have an Athlon 2500 Barton and...

Check out jimmy83's post a page back on 2 Dec.
He says "I recently e-mailed antec about the dodgy door issue, and they sent me this link on how to sort it yourself"

I tried this on my door tonight and although I didn't have the metal...
