    VPN Slow?!?

I know this is off topic but thought it was worth a mention since you have a fairly decent setup, commercial? but as you probably know Windows server 2008 reached EOL last year, vulnerable internet facing machines are easily identified so might be worthwhile upgrading asap. Just thought it was...

    VPN Slow?!?

Yeah it's on NordLynx by default. OpenVPN TCP was like using TOR, painfully slow. I just need to figure out how to cable this now, gonna have a wire travelling from one corner of the living room all the way round up the stairs and into a room, probably need a 15/20m cat6 cable. I'll need to...

    VPN Slow?!?

So I have decided to end the speculation by lugging my desktop downstairs and connecting it directly to the router, my desktop's CPU is an Intel i5 8500 (hex-core 3.0GHz). I got 143.08 Down and 12.54 up with a 25 ping connected to NordVPN. My router is an old Virgin Media Super Hub AC2, do you...

    VPN Slow?!?

I know my powerline adapter is limited to 100mbps the issue is I don't want to invest in upgrading to a better solution until I know I can achieve close to line speed via a VPN, I have spoken to other people who have nordVPN and they say 50mbps is the max they get, I have unfortunately signed up...

    VPN Slow?!?

Thanks - so I can't really test on my Desktop due to the fact the homeplug has a 100mbps ethernet port and I am hesitant to upgrade to a better solution until I know I can get over 100mbps on my VPN so I done some testing with speedtest by ookla on my phone from the opposite side of the house...

    VPN Slow?!?

Yeah I get like 216mbps wired connection and 200mbps on my phone at the other end of the house so defo 200mbps coming through. I have ExpressVPN I connect to 1 of 2 UK servers located in London or Docklands which tbh is a few hundred miles away. The protocol was set to Auto but I was advised to...

    VPN Slow?!?

Hi everyone, So I have 200mbps, I also pay for a popular VPN service that boasts high speeds however when I am connected to my VPN I only get 100mbps max. I understand that routing my traffic via a VPN will inherently slow my speed down but I was curious to know if anyone else can achieve...

    Powerline VS Wifi Extender

So I've now got 200mpbs and looking at options to upgrade my old 100mpbs powerline adapter and don't know whether to go for a higher quality powerline adapter or WiFi Extender. My desktop is upstairs and due to the layout of the house would only have 1 partition wall to go through to gain...

    Network Power Adapters

I am looking at powerline adapters too, you seen this one? It has a gigabyte ethernet port like the dearer ones you posted but it less than half the price...

    200mbps broadband = 70mpbs connection speed

Hey guys, So to revive this thread I am looking to upgrade some home networking kit to get my as close to cabled connection as possible. My desktop computer is up one floor but should realistically see the router through one partitioned wall due to where the stairs are located. I was wanting...

    200mbps broadband = 70mpbs connection speed

I don't understand how a cat5 cable can handle anything over 100 Mbps, isn't that logically impossible? The cables had 'cat5 UTP' printed on them, if they were cat5e wouldn't it say cat5e?

    200mbps broadband = 70mpbs connection speed

Thanks for your replies that pretty much puts this to bed. Can't believe they would design a 500mbps powerline adapter with a 100mbps ethernet port. It was bad enough when I realized they shipped the thing with cat5 cables lol. Having 90 Mbps isn't stopping me from doing anything I just want...

    200mbps broadband = 70mpbs connection speed

Hey Everyone! I recently upgraded to virgin m200 the only problem is one of my devices that uses a TP-LINK TL-PA411KIT AV500 500 Mbps Nano Powerline Adapter only gets 70-90Mbps. I tested by plugging directly into the router, I can achieve 200+Mbps but through this powerline adapter I only get...

I'd appreciate advice on this build

I reckon a 650w psu at a minimum would be ideal since the rx580 requires a minimum of 500w. Better to have the extra headroom plus it would mean that you if you ever upgraded your gpu in the future you wouldn't need to upgrade the psu too.

    New pc build issue

I had exactly the same issue when trying to install windows 7 onto my new build because my hardware wasn't compatible. Have you tried using a different USB drive and/or USB port?

Sound card is shorting against GPU?

Sometimes close inspection shows that 2 seperate soldering points have become inadvertently connected through poor soldering on the hardware and causes a short I don't think that's the issue since the computer is actually booting up though just something I've seen before that sprang to mind.

Help Please! Laptop, Desktop or Something Else?

I'm not sure about the stylus but £500 for a pc capable of video editing is a big ask even if you build it yourself. Try looking at 2nd hand machines if your limit is £500.

Building a PC for my Nan

You could make a good £80+ saving by ditching the nve drive and just getting a Kingston 480gb ssd. 10+ quid saving by getting 1x8gb 3000mhz 10 quid saving by getting a corsair 450watt psu. That's atleast 100 quid knocked off.

New Build Lighting up - no post

Yeah it's purely for home office use hence the reason for not opting for a graphics card. Much appreciated :-)
