Yes the black boxes at the top of the poles are the CBT (connectorised block terminal).
The boxes usually found around the middle of the poles will either be a splitter or a track joint, basically where one end of a fibre cable is jointed to another.
They will run a fibre drop cable from your...
It can’t remember which version but it was the one before the latest which I flashed to it before assembling.
Running a clean install of windows 11 pro.
I’ve heard about PBO and curve optimiser pretty much being a basic set and forget and that makes a good improvement allowing it to boost up...
New pc delivered today put together and is up and running on the first boot without issue.

What tuning is recommended on these CPU’s to get optimal performance from them?

In response to those saying run cat5e from the ONT to where you want the router to sit, I would not recommend this. Cat5e is only rated up to 1000Mbps (1 gigabit). With new offerings of 1.8 gigabit and likely 2.5 gigabit in the future, you should run cat6 to future proof yourself to handle the...
If they say it’s available to order for you then it’s up to openreach to foot the bill to get it to you. I’m guessing your copper line is buried armour so they’ll probably just bury some gabocom micro duct or even normal duct 56 up to your house
If the cabling is being done now then shouldn’t be long I’d expect. Maybe a few more weeks or a couple months max. Put your address into the openreach website fibre checker then put in your email address and they’ll let you know when it’s live to order
Same for me, and i work for them and half my town already has had it built for the last year or 2. My town is split into 2 exchange areas and of course they built the other exchange area I don’t live in first!
I appreciate all your help Tetras. Spent a lot of time since posting this looking at all the options offered and the pros and cons. I do really like the case, going air cooling only where as current computer has an AIO I looked a lot into airflow and about positive and negative pressure and...
Final spec decided and pulling the trigger today. The Asus b650e-f still hasn’t came back into stock so I’m going with the MSI B650 tomahawk. I’m not that bothered about gen 5 stuff for now. I won’t be upgrading for a good few years once now, and when I do it’ll probably be because my younger...
only the motherboard that’s not in stock at OCUK. Hopefully it’s back in by the time I’m ready to hit the button or I’ll need to source the mobo elsewhere.
Also I’ve taken your advice and I’ll get the phantom spirit cooler :)
Updated with SSD’s
My basket at OcUK:

2 x be quiet! Silent Wings 4 140mm PWM Fan (SKU...
I don’t upgrade often it takes a long time to save up so I’d rather get the best that’s available now then will be a few years down the line before I’d need to upgrade again. Oh thanks for pointing that out, forgot to add in the SSD’s!
Thanks mate. Appreciate it, I wasn’t aware of the PCIe 5.0 taking advantage of the new GPU’s so I’ll keep that in mind looking at them. The cost savings are definitely a positive for very little performance loss for my use. With the changes managed to bring the cost down a good few hundered. Is...
Yeah it’s purely a gaming machine and I have no intention of overclocking. Just single GPU and 2x gen 4 SSD’s, 1 for boot and programs, 1 for game storage.
Not sure, I just assume x670 is the best for the AM5 platform? I’m not so clued up on all the latest tech just from reviews I’ve been looking at I thought it would be a good pairing with the 7800x3D. Budget isn’t really an issue but I still don’t want to go OTT
Currently on a 2600X and 5700xt, been a good 5 years but feel it’s time to upgrade. Going to hand my pc down to my 8year old daughter she’s forever hounding me to go on the computer and play Minecraft, sims, Roblox etc.
Been speccing up a new pc for myself as below. Is there any recommendations...
