There's a whole host of reasons, not least because the company owner gets a suitcase full of money and the staff get job security and not needing to worry whether your next release would be a hit or a flop. Commercially, it makes a lot of sense to have a behemoth (be that Microsoft or Sony) own...
If either of those two companies have a majority shareholder then they are actually easier to acquire (assuming the offer price is acceptable to the majority shareholder). They don't need to have all of the shares to have control of the company, and they don't need to publish until their intent...
I've had the Xbox username BettySwallox ever since Live foirst came out.........logged on the other day and it looks like my 11 year old has changed it to something rubbish and I can't change it back - not impressed!
You just reminded me that I need to pack up my OneX and sell it!
As mentioned though, it's swings and roundabouts between the OneX and sS, as they both get their own enhancements. With legacy games I'd say the OneX is better, but with new games the series S.........and a lot of it is a toss up...
I used my regular ms account. Just have a Resolut card linked and shipping address on file....... When you try to order it won't let you enter a UK shipping address, but if you have one on file then it let's you select that one. Mine took 2 days to deliver and just swapped for a UK figure 8...
They come into stock regularly on the Swiss Xbox site
Works out about £392 delivered (there are no additional VAT or import duties via Microsoft).
You do need to have a payment method and shipping address linked to your microsoft account though./
After all the pre-release fuss about it's size, I have to say I am shocked at how small it is. I've literally hidden mine down the side of the TV cabinet in the hope the wife won't find it.
Managed to snaffle an order in on the Swiss Xbox site last night - the equivalent of ~£390 delivered, so am happy with that.......just need to sneak it past the wife and kids! :D
Stupid question, but can you use the Kinect with the XsX?
I hope so, as that takes away the need to log in every time I go on it.........particularly useful when the wife is on the main TV and I want to stream it to my PC instead.
If they are buying, then I really don't anyone is off the acquisition table - Square? Sega? Namco? Capcom? Konami? All could be up for grabs for relative value in the same ballpark (~$7bn) and all would give an immediate leg up in the Japanese market!
I like a lot about both controllers. For me Xbox is fantastic for shooters and racing games, whereas the PS controller is better for just about everything else...........however, I have been playing on my nephew's PS5 and have to say I am not a fan of the reactive buttons on the new controller -...
A couple of things you might want to bear in mind.........I doubt Microsoft give a monkeys if Sony release their games on any other format than Xbox (or within the Gamepass ecosystem). Microsoft get absolutely nothing from games released on PC.
If Elder Scrolls 6 was released on PS5 it would...
Consoles have always been a closed platform where you need to be licenced to make and release games. When people talk about Sega and Nintendo have "exclussives" , they are in house developed games that are created and owned by that company - that is very different to paying third parties for...
The purchase of the Bethesda group has cost Microsoft nothing other than the movement in share price (which may have actually given Microsoft a profit if the share price has risen).........the group sit as an asset on Microsoft's accounts.
