    Recommend a harware raid controller

Thanks for the replies. I currently use dmraid, since it allows me to use software raid under both Linux and Windows. Looks like a hardware raid card that will make the raid transparent to Windows and Linux is out of my budget. Guess I'll be sticking with dmraid for now then ;)

    Recommend a harware raid controller

Hi all, I am fed up with using my motherboard's software raid. It causes hassle each time I rebuild my PC (most Linux distros do not support it out of the box). Hence I would like a recommendation for a hardware raid controller. Ideally to support 4 SATA-II disks and under £50. I do not...

Windows Media Center / Home Premium to record Freeview+cable

Apologies for a double post, but does anyone know if I could do this (freeview and cable) using MediaPortal instead? I have a spare XP licence kicking around so it would be a cheaper (and possibly better) option.

Windows Media Center / Home Premium to record Freeview+cable

Sorry, I meant to say that I don't know of any DVB-C TUNER CARDS that work directly with UK cable providers. I.e you have to go through the STB so that they can use their encrytion etc.

Windows Media Center / Home Premium to record Freeview+cable

Thanks for the reply I thought a RAM upgrade might be needed. Another 512Mb isn't going to break the bank I guess. I plan to use an existing capture card for the Telewest box, I don't know of any DVB-C that work with UK cable TV. It was the combination of cable/freeview that I wanted to check...

Windows Media Center / Home Premium to record Freeview+cable

Hopefully this is a simple to answer question. I built a small pc last summer with the intention of using as a home-theatre pc, particularly for acting as a freeview PVR. However, since then I have got Telewest (now Virgin) TV, and need to integrate this in. My original install was using...

9800 Problems - Lines down screen

Try the members market - you could pick up an x800-based card for cheap solution. Or if you went towards the top end of your budget you might be able to find a 1950XT (you can get them new for sub-£150, I think). Not sure how much these draw on the 12V rail though.

    Omega Drivers Alt-tab issue

Hi, I am using the latest Omega drivers with my X800XL as of last week, since I was having problems with the catalyst drivers. They work a treat, apart from one thing. When I am in any 3D game (both Direct3D and OpenGl are effected) and I alt-tab out of the game to do something, when I try...

    X800XL memory heatsinks

Thanks for the replies. Sadly work is calling atm :(. Think I will try it out later this evening, with the GPU watercooled and the memory without cooling. I'll run at stock until my memory coolers arrive - just to be safe :D EDIT: All working! The memory gets pretty hot when running...

    X800XL memory heatsinks

Just got an X800XL AGP (from the MM in fact), to replace my tired 9800Pro. My 9800Pro was watercooled by a Maze4 GPU block, which I intend to use for the X800XL. Problem is, the memory heatsinks I ordered haven't arrived yet :(. My question is does anyone know / has tried running this card...

Turion on Asrock mobo won't boot

I am building a HTPC based on a Turion ML-28 processor. I am using an ASROCK K8NF4G-SATA2 motherboard, since I have read on a forum that other people have succesfully run Turion processors on this board. My problem is when I come to power the thing on: with both 4-pin 12V and 20-pin ATX...
