ok thx, i was a bit worried because the asus website said that bios 1004 was needed for the E8600 with eo stepping and wasnt sure if that would have been a problem with recognizing the cpu, i suppose i will find out in the next couple of days cheers

just ordered these 2 and wanted to know if the board comes with a bios earlier than 1004 will it still recognise the cpu or will i have to flash the bios some how ? cheers

i thought about getting the 64 bit vista but my system will be used mainly for gaming and wondered if there is still problems with games and software, drivers etc not really working as well as the 32 bit vista or not working at all in some cases

i believe vista patched to sp1 now reports the memory different so you now see the full 4 gb as you say memory is quite cheap at the mo so perhaps i will just take a chance and just get 4 gb

is it better to have 4 gb of memory with vista 32 bit os when used with a gtx 280 with 1024 mb of memory or will the 4 gb total limit mean it will be no better than 2 gb ? cheers

ok thx for advice maybe i will stick to just the 4850 and see if that improves my current setup much and after that think about a major upgrade

thinking of upgrading my ati x1900xtx to a 4850 so will a cpu upgrade as above make much difference for gaming to compliment the gpu upgrade ? cheers

my x1900xtx runs at about 76 degrees when playing stalker etc will the 4850 be hotter than that ?

:). i will probably get the 4850 as i have played the waiting game already unless i decide to build a new system should have been x1900xtx and not gtx cheers
