The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

I think there will be a typical gain of 30-40%. We've had at least this with every RDNA GPU generation so far.

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

I wonder if we might be heading for a earlier than expected release of RDNA4 graphics cards? Like August/September 2024? Will be interesting to see what they release, that's faster than a RX 7900 XTX. Seems a safe bet that the x900 XT class GPUs will be faster, and they might end up besting a...

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

It's a good video with some useful performance stats to compare. The overclocked results particularly. It's a bit odd how he includes results with AMD's cards with SAM off though, I don't think anyone would play with SAM off, AMD's drivers perform better with it on pretty much always. Also...

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

Nothing wrong with XFX cards from what I've seen in reviews. Decent cooling generally.

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

Wow, XFX RX 7900 XTs are going for £630 now! The cost per frame on these cards must be pretty decent. The cheapest RTX 4090s are around £1,600...

Geforce now ultimate - most impressive!

I just had a near perfect session on Geforce Now, in terms of the connection to the server: No packet loss reported by the network overlay in game, and low latency of around 10-12ms, tested at 1600 x 900 resolution. My ISP changed I think probably at some point in the last week (from Cuckoo...

Geforce now ultimate - most impressive!

WTH, I'm getting the same issue on Diablo IV (can now play on Game Pass) as with Geforce Now / game streaming. Huge latency spikes. As soon as I enable an Amsterdam VPN (free servers on Proton), latency and lag goes away. What's very weird about Diablo IV, is that RivaTuner reports dips in 1%...

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

I'm wondering if there will be any cards launched that have higher memory clock speeds out of the box? Maybe with higher core clocks as well, and with low memory and memory hotspot temps?

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

Definitely gives the RTX 4070 Super a run for it's money when overclocked :) In general, the minimum framerates are higher at 1440p and 4K (than an overclocked RTX 4070 Super) with a GRE when it's memory is clocked at 2600Mhz (core clocks will be a factor also). Seems to be about a 10-20%...

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

There's some other models that like the Gigabyte Gaming, XFX Speedster model and Powercolor Fighter, that it would be good to get some data on. I'd probably go with the XFX card, as I think the hotspot was around 80 Celsius, but it depends on price also. The gigabyte model does well also, but...

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

I think the hotspot temps were alright on the ASRock Steel Legend in reviews. Edit - 82 Celsius: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asrock-radeon-rx-7900-gre-steel-legend/39.html Anyone got one? If so, can you overclock the memory much?

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

2438 Mhz. Which should result in memory bandwidth of 624.1 GB/s. Spec here: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-7800-xt.c3839 A 2600 Mhz overclock would result in memory bandwidth of 665.6 GB/s. As far as I can tell, the achievable memory clock depends on the type of memory chips...

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

I've changed the title of the thread, as expected, it looks like clocking it above the RX 7800 XT boost and memory clocks yields some impressive results (I think 14.9% performance boost is probably at the upper end of what can be achieved or expected). We still need to see a proper full review...

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

Anyone got a RX 7900 GRE? What clocks can you achieve with for the GPU and memory, with the new drivers?

The Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) Owners Thread.

The last gen £2000 RTX 3090 TI almost makes an RX 7900 XTX for £800 seem like an OK price, considering the XTX is a notably faster GPU. Realistically, I doubt we will see the price of these cards drop to £700. It's truly nuts that the Nvidia's flagship RTX 4090 is only around 20% faster than...

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

There was a new driver released a couple of days ago, that apparently solves the memory overclocking issues on the GRE: The maximum memory tuning limit may be incorrectly reported on AMD Radeon™ RX 7900 GRE graphics products. Link...

    Zzoomm Fibre Discussion Thread.

I had an email from Zzoomm which was quite straight forward and honest, which I appreciate. They tell me tell me that their company isn't going to build (their network) to any more properties in my area. They say that 'With any build such as this it comes with its own complications and delays...

The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

Is a fix for the overclocking limits still being worked on for the GRE?

    14th Gen "Raptor Lake Refresh"

I would guess that you will see similar clock rates with Arrow Lake but at a significantly lower voltage. There was a diagram a while ago which showed how the Intel 4* process would be designed to reduce voltage. Like Intel 3/4, Intel 20a will be a EUV process. Intel needs to copy AMD's...

    14th Gen "Raptor Lake Refresh"

Intel still struggling to hit 6Ghz on all 8 large/P-cores: https://www.guru3d.com/story/intel-core-i914900ks-hits-15-volts/ 5.9Ghz, so close! Using a lot of voltage as well... I suppose Arrow Lake will take all the glory, by being the first CPUs to reach 6Ghz all core. And hopefully, the Ryzen...
