After a lot of research I went with the HD Ready Panasonic TXP42X10 - it's a brilliant TV. If you get a 37" and sit that far away the common concensus is you won't benefit from 1080 over 720 (go for the larger screen if funds allow btw :)) Some are even saying the X model is better than the G...

If you took the barrel in mole grips or similar and gave it a good whack it would (should) break in two, you could then remove the barrel and get the top and bottom bolts undone. A guy in an ironmongers showed me this and I was amazed how easy it was to do! Best to call a locksmith if your not...
