I had a similar problem that turned out to be the PSU. It wouldn't work properly until it warmed up. Caused all kind of strange problems when it was cold. 100% stable when warm.

Looking at the above motherboard for a 4670k, 8GB, GTX 970. Is this a wise choice or is there something better? Won't be overclocking anything. Cheers

Hi all. The above board no longer posts so I'm looking for a replacement. The PC powers on but there is no beep or output from the graphics card. Won't be overclocking, it just needs to be reliable to run a 4670, 8GB, GTX 970. As cheap as possible really. Many thanks.

I'm using the same board and processor and never had that problem. Is everything set to automatic in the BIOS? when I had a tinker with setting things manually I had a lot of strange problems with the CPU clocking down and not boosting correctly.

Can't remember the exact spec as I built it around this time last year for a mate. Guessing a 4670k, 8GB, one HDD. Currently running a 7750 but looking to upgrade to best card the PSU can handle. Thanks for any input.

It's an Antec Phantom. Old but hardly used. I've added up a total of £370 for what I listed. Have no Interest in dual graphics cards so the 990x boards seems like overkill for my needs.

Everything I need to replace keeps bumping the price up more and more. I fully agree that a high quality PSU is essential. The 500W I linked to above has been used far less than my own and well taken care of. Seems a better idea to go with that one. Thanks for the reply.
