I have tried to keep a full second rig on hand since the Covid / mining shortages. When people come to me for a build, I usually just sell the backup PC and roll the money into another project. (Upgrade primary or build another backup) I guess that makes a 4080S my current backup.

Isn't there a point down Nvidia's stack where the cards are not strong enough to make good use of RT, at which point they have to compete with better+cheaper options from AMD?

If I were Taiwan, I would want to ensure that the most cutting-edge nodes were produced exclusively in Taiwan. If the US could get the tech elsewhere, we may be less inclined to defend Taiwan from China.
