    Great, thanks very much guys. It repaired the file, but then reloaded Windows again and I thought 'Oh my god 'it's going to delete al my family photo albums. But thankfully they're all still there, but I've had to reinstall service pack 2. cheers

    The file thats missing is system32\DRIVERS\isapnp.sys I've got the r option to repair. But it then says it wants an administrator password, and I have never set one !

    Thanks for the replies. The other option, other than repair is load windows. If I do this without reformatting , will I keep all my important files like photos etc etc

    I have a damaged system file and windows won't load. I get the message : use the windows disk and press r at the first screen to repair. Ok fine so far, but when I try to get further it asks for a password. Well I've never set a password , so how do I proceed ?? Any ideas

    Due an upgrade and was going to go for the Iphone 3 gs. Can't decide whether to go for the 32 g, which is a lot more expensive. Anybody with Iphone experience found 16 g a problem ? I'm not going to load it with tons of photos and videos.

    The mrs wants an external Hard drive for her Toshiba laptop so she can keep her office work seperate. I know nothing about laptops, can anybody suggest anything half decent for about 50 quid and is it just a question of sticking it on and off you go !

    I think this is t he culprit, but I can't delete it even with User Account Control switched off. It does'nt appear in start up items C:\Windows\System32\SearchProtocolHost.exe
