    1Gbps vs 866Mbps = confused

Oh sorry, its exactly the same one that gives the 113Mbps. Same day, no other users attached, no settings changed etc.

    1Gbps vs 866Mbps = confused

Thank you, and exactly, thats the ball park performance id expect at for Wifi at 866Mbps, if 1Gbps yields ~113Mbps (Edit, everything is connected at 1Gbps) Well latency is 1ms as its wholly within my house, but what sort of wifi overhead would be 10x that of wired? Is that really possible? Rich

    1Gbps vs 866Mbps = confused

Please could someone try to explain the following phenomena to me, with possible reasons. NB I fully appreciate there is a s.ton of variables at play here, so it wont be a simple single answer, but would like ideas. - When my desktop is connected at 1Gbps wired through to a 1Gbps connected NAS...

Anyone modded a 24 port POE switch to reduce noise?

oh crikey youre swapping with a lot larger fan -- does that have the same current draw as the small one?

Anyone modded a 24 port POE switch to reduce noise?

Actually from memory, they look almost identical to the ones I swapped out - it worked a treat, and the fan plugs looked identical

POE 802.3af confusion - Help Required, Anyone?

Due to an issue with a new IP Camera, I recently replaced a Netgear GS108P POE switch (with 2 cameras attached) with two POE Injectors as I suspected (possibly incorrectly) the switch was failing as a newer camera (FD9387-HTV) kept connecting and disconnecting. Once connected to the POE...

Anyone modded a 24 port POE switch to reduce noise?

It wasn't a POE switch but an HP Data Dentre Edge Switch (in my home) to reduce noise -- simply took it apart, identified the full spec of the three fans inside, then found replacement fans that drew the less current (so not to blow anything) and had a lower noise rating and plugged them in...

    16 or 32GB Modules >3600Mhz - Any point?

Hi fatfurrycat, I didnt im afraid and ended up going for the 4x32GB Vengeance PRO RGB to give the 128GB I wanted for some VMs for my lab Eitherway, it sounds like @Jamin280672 sorted you out - I think I paid about £730 or so for the 128GB, but would have to look it up Rich

Corsair Lighting Node Pro (LNP) - DEFECTIVE?

@Bickaxe thank you, I reported what I saw in iCue, but you're right, it looks nothing like the Corsair LNP, and is in fact the RGB Fan hub controller as @RevBillyG said. I guess thats the brains and the FHC is just a distribution point. So barring the wrong name of the device (what a...

Corsair Lighting Node Pro (LNP) - DEFECTIVE?

I recently built a new PC with a really nice brand new Corsair Crystal 680x case, the case came with a corsair Lighting Node Pro (LNP), and the setup couldn't have been easier.....apart from one bit. I added the three 120mm LL fans that came with the case to my H150i AIO and to the LNP, all was...

Middle Mouse Button Issue - Windows 10

Probably a long-shot, and will no doubt end up buying a new mouse, but annoying to say the least! I've just built a new Windows 10 Pro 64bit PC, and while testing I've noticed the Middle Mouse Button is not picked up by any games. The mouse is a Corsair M40, and works perfectly on my old...

Do I cut the M.2 aluminium thermal guard plate ???

Thank you, but two questions spring to mind: Is there a way of telling where the lanes are being used? If the graphics card was running at 8x not 16x does that litterally mean half the bandwidth through the PCIe interface? and what in real world terms would that mean for video performance, eg...

Do I cut the M.2 aluminium thermal guard plate ???

I did think that last night, but have to say I don't fully understand the usage of lanes, is it simply a matter of counting as my 3950x has 24, the 2080 will take 16(?) and the rest used by the NVMes? My bottom line is that i'm not going to compromise the graphics performance for ultimate disk...

@orbitalwalsh and @ Mcnumpty2323 - Awesome, thank you both that's exactly what I'm looking for!

Do I cut the M.2 aluminium thermal guard plate ???

I pretty much agree with this, I'm not overly a fan modding or tearing things apart (unless they're already dead!). And actually I like the copper colour. The Aorus "Thermal Guard" , as I've said, is more of a thermal capacitor, being completely flat. There are no fins, nor is it connected...

Do I cut the M.2 aluminium thermal guard plate ???

Thanks McNumpty2323 - I'm not asking you to do my research, but do you know of any PCIe Gen4 M.2 expansion cards (Dual, Triple or Quad) I've found a few, but all PCIe Gen3. If they're not available yet, but might be soon, ill hold off cutting the Aorus plate, and just go with the default...

Do I cut the M.2 aluminium thermal guard plate ???

I don't mean to be a motherboard racist, but frankly they (the Aorus) all look the same to me!, so one doesn't look more "awesome" than another! The selection of that board was a requirement for 10GB and minor desire the the Sabre DAC. Yes, I could have bought cards and bit n bobs to reduce...

Do I cut the M.2 aluminium thermal guard plate ???

I've not built a PC in 20+ years so definitely a learning curve, and no, I wasn't planning on modding sadly. It sounds like G4 NVMe's run hot form what others have said, so frankly they'd need a heatsink whether Sabrent or the one they came with. What doesn't feel like it is an option is the...

Do I cut the M.2 aluminium thermal guard plate ???

My apologies, I misunderstood. The Sabrent definitely looks better, you're right. Although I think the "gap" that annoys me the most

Do I cut the M.2 aluminium thermal guard plate ???

Some interesting points, thanks 1. @pastymuncher - The Sabrent Rocket M2 2280 SSD Rocket Heat-sinks certainly do look like they'd do a better job than the existing heat-sinks on the Aorus NVMes, but that said the Aorus NVMes do come with a chunky and finned lump of copper, just not the...
