    *** AMD "Zen 4" thread (inc AM5/APU discussion) ***

Most of the H610's are around £80, but best to skip the H610's, the B660's though occasionally go below £90, with the good ones starting around £100. The issue with the AMD B650's is that the likely rubbish ones start at around $125 (that price is from AMD themselves), so the ones actually...

    *** AMD "Zen 4" thread (inc AM5/APU discussion) ***

Assume it's due to the motherboards costing more than the CPU. Zen 4 is not going to sell at the mid-end until it gets motherboards that cost nearer a £100, but reports are lowest priced board for the B650 is likely to be around £150, Intel boards start at half that and the CPU's are cheaper.

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

Review embargo is lifted the day before release, i.e. 11th of October reviews will appear. Normally, having the embargo that close to release is a sure sign of a bad product.

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

Going to be the same with AMD as well. The biggest factor to the price hike is TSMC's increase for 2023, both AMD and Nvidia are going to have to increase prices significantly just to cope with that. The Nvidia 30XX series will be around for a long while as that made at a Samsung Fab and with a...

    Jonsbo U5

Wait till they get the Jonsbo D40, assuming they do. It's basically an improved, smaller U5. The US just got its first shipment of the D30 (MATX version) and D40, so Europe's is likely soon. Both are highly wanted, especially the D30, given the expected size of the new graphics cards.

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

This will take a lot of demand off ITX as makes it semi pointless for high end, which is where a lot of the market for ITX boards is. Wonder if any of the board manufacturers got wind of this 4 slot change and going to produce some high end 1 PCIe slot MATX boards just stacked with M.2 etc...

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

They might be unvieling something as the description for the presentation (NVidia Computex 2022) says: 'Watch our special keynote address to learn how AI is powering the enterprise data center and the latest products and technologies for gamers and creators.' If its any of their consumer lines...

More robust / rugged router for garage

Neither would I but OP is after options in a very limited field. Also that Cisco is the same its not outdoor rated, same as all the in-wall AP's I am aware of, many of which do the same e.g. Aruba and Zyxel both have PoE out in Wall AP's but really shouldn't be used in a garage.

None of those are outdoor rated, which is one of his requirements.

More robust / rugged router for garage

The old 100mbps version is but nobody should be using that any more and surprised they still list it. The AC version is 802.3 out.

Recommend small, passive 10Gbe RJ45 switch for home

Just get a TP-Link then. Theirs are about the cheapest 10G RJ45 switches, think the 5 port one is around £200. ~ WiFi 6 AP's all use 2.5G so you only need a 2.5G port technically for that btw.

Recommend small, passive 10Gbe RJ45 switch for home

3 is an awkward number. Many have 2 but beyond 2, to do it cheap think its only QNAP. Also if its WiFi 6 then that only needs to be 2.5G and there are various 2.5G switches that also have a couple of 10G ports, TP-Link and I think Zyxel do 2.5G switches like that, but that only makes sense if...

More robust / rugged router for garage

They exist, Mikrotik do them. They are about some of the best options available if you need external switching generally all PoE (802.3) out as well, even have one (netPower 16P) that is powered via reverse power over one of the connections so you can connect it via a SFP+ feed then only have...

    Home wired network

Openreach are turning off the analog phone system. They stop selling of any new analog services at the end of this year for some exchanges with all being done by 2023 i.e. if you switch provider after the new year voice calls will be done via VOIP, if your exchange is one of the first ones...

    Home wired network

They aren't pointless and will have to become standard for a lot of homes by 2025 if you want to make a phone call when the power goes out. You ideally want to move to a situation where your router, phone, and other equipment you need to make a phone call has a UPS attached to give 2hours+ time...

    SKY capping my internet.

They don't do traffic management, not sure anyone really does in the UK bar TalkTalk and a few smaller players now, but Sky do have very small backhaul's and usually only one link from each exchange. The bandwidth increasing after most people start to go to bed does sound like soem part of the...

    Home wired network

Keep it Simple, its a home not a datacenter. Buy a 10" Cab and buy kit that fits that size. Yes it does limit you re switches but it looks a lot better and they actually can suit a home if properly situated. Used to run a 19" 12U rack for all our gear but one of the best things we ever did was...
