    C/C++ IDE for mac

You need to install the Xcode tools from your Mac Install DVD. You don't have to use the Xcode IDE but if you don't you wont have the GCC compiler installed.

Bicycles... Are they meant to feel unsafe!

You're about a week behind the program, the OP has discovered his error, amended it and is now happily cycling along free as a bird...on a bicycle. So we don't really need any OMG YUR 2 DUMB 2 YOOZ A BIEK!!! posts now do we? ;) p.s. I work in IT and managed to assemble my bike fine, but...

    SPL Season 2007/2008 Thread **Spoilers**

They're crap? ;) A few Hibs fans think that the common factor is Gordon Marshall and that we need a new goalkeeping coach. Whatever the situation we can't get on his back too much as this will affect his confidence even further and he'll turn into Zibi mk2. However the goals he let in...

    Taking apart a MBP

If in doubt, keep the old disk and swap it back in if you need to have a warranty repair ;) I must say though that the fiddliest laptop Ive ever had the displeasure of replacing the hard drive of was a powerbook 12". About 50 screws and was pretty much a half-day job :(

    Linux webserver/firewall...??

Technically you shouldn't be running any extraneous services on a firewall box- each service represents a unique chink in the armour of your external defences :) For a home setup I would just go with using a NAT router as a "firewall" tbh unless you have any specific reason not to. Then just...

    Uni living expenses

I also stayed at home throughout uni (in fact it was my and my parent's main consideration when choosing a university to go to). I didn't really go on any mad spending sprees and I worked full-time through the summers and had a part-time job during the term (only 8-12 hrs a week though)...

    Theory Test

Good advice and definitely the secret to passing the Hazard Perception section. I just passed my theory a couple of weeks ago and there weren't any real surprises- as long as you've practised the example exams enough to have encountered all the dumb/ plain wrong questions you should pass it no...

    Uni living expenses

I know, disgusting isn't it. In fact I think I had people in my class who DIDNT have double-barrelled surnames! WTF is that all about! (on an anecdotal basis Id probably say "working class" students are more likely to do vocational/ engineering courses at uni precisely BECAUSE they are...

    Name this spider!

Yep, from the font of all knowledge (wikipedia) "These arachnids are known for their exceptionally long walking legs, compared to body size. The difference between harvestmen and spiders is that in harvestmen the two main body sections (the abdomen with ten segments and cephalothorax, or...

    Uni living expenses

No problems, the point I was trying to make was that I wouldn't *not* be friends with someone (like the cunning use of the double negative :p ) just because they happened to have more money than me as long as they understood that I personally couldn't afford their extravagant lifestyle :)

    Uni living expenses

I wouldn't quite go as far as to judge him personally on his lifestyle choices as I feel that would be unfair and equally as judgemental as he could be of the standard "poor" student's lifestyle. However I do think that this isn't the lifestyle of a student or even of a typical young...
