Yeah it's an especially bad time for sff builds. Been wanting to upgrade my 8700k but the motherboard prices are ridiculous. £200 only just about gets you a barebones budget spec asrock h670 board that is power limited to 150W, with the slightly more expensive z690 version giving you OC support...
There's a Gigabyte z690i aorus ultra ddr4 that seems to finally be available in some places - I was going to go for this one but there are reports of issues with PCIe 4 as well as coil whine.
Ended up deciding to hold off another year or two and just upgrade once DDR5 has matured a bit and...
Does your GPU have a really thick backplate? While that heatsink is obnoxiously tall I would've thought it's far away enough not to interfere - or are you mounting vertically with a riser?
That was the one I was hoping to go for. Two weeks ago I contacted gigabyte and they said it would be released here in...two weeks and to contact retailers for more info. Nowhere seems to have any idea when it will be out.
Considering getting a cheaper board then upgrading when ddr5 is more...
Z690 allows cpu overclocking while B660 doesn't, which isn't really important unless you're getting a K chip. The asrock z690m-itx has a weak VRM (that aorus b660 has a better one lol) and a power limit of 150W so it's not great for overclocking anyway.
The main gripe I have with that b660i is...
As far as I know auto-overclock tools are generally not great, if you really want to overclock you're better off reading up on it and doing it manually. Should not be having issues with a D15
It's a network issue, are you using wifi? Probably just a coincidence that it started happening with a new monitor but could be causing some interference with the wifi signal
When the time comes better to just upgrade to whatevers current gen at the time, no? Single thread performance will likely be significantly better
11400f makes the most sense to me in terms of value

Interesting, will have to keep an eye out if they start selling that model here.
38 looks brilliant but I worry that current GPUs aren't quite ready for the higher resolution, extra million pixels over the 34" ones! A 3080 already doesn't hit 144 at plain old 1440p in some newer titles
I think the best value at the moment is probably the Acer Nitro XV340CKP if you value response time/low ghosting, has a good write up but it is flat.
Looking for a curved 34" IPS personally as I'm worried flat will be uncomfortable for games and VA is out the window for me because of black...
Windows will still work but you may need to reactivate it as the license is usually tied to the motherboard if it's not linked to your Microsoft account.
Personally would do a clean install when changing platform but not generally necessary
I had the flickering issue with two cables, did not even try the one it came with. In fairness, I didn’t check whether it had the latest firmware.
Main issue for me was the smearing, found it really bad in FPS games
Got one of these wanting to try ultrawide coming from a LG 27GL850B. The size and aspect ratio are fantastic but unfortunately the motion handling is pretty awful in comparison and the VRR flickering issue is present on my unit too so it'll be going back. Think I will be avoiding VA panels...
OLED has much better response time so you are going to get better clarity and less blur with motion. This by no means negates the need for high refresh rates though, 120hz is going to be much smoother/responsive than 60hz no matter what screen tech it is.
Looking forward to microled displays so...
Absolutely do not want nvidia continuing with their current pricing scheme which is exactly why I would've liked to see the 6800XT undercut the 3080 by a similar margin that the 5700XT did with the 2070(S).
For the same sort of price I'd rather stick with my 3080 preorder - nvidia drivers have...
