Can anyone tell me whether the onboard eSata port is recognised under ESXi? I currently use eSata for backing up my Microserver to external HDD's and it runs quite happily at about 70MB/s. Having to move back to running backups at 20MB/s over USB would be painful.

Stupid question, but have you tried enabling the debugging/logging mode and restarting XBMC to view the logs? I've used this a couple of times when the updater has stopped with errors. The logs enable you to see how far through the scan the update process gets and if it encounters any errors...
