    Newshosting slow ?

Never tried "news.us.newshosting.com" before, seems to work considerably better than the default unlimited.newshosting.com or news.newshosting.com I'm guessing its down to strange routing. unlimited and news were giving me 8mbit on a 50mbit virgin connection. news.us. is now giving me 34mbit...

    eSata

Hey folks just a quick question about esata ports. Are esata ports just external ports for the sata bus? I only ask as i have 1 "esata" port on my motherboard but i also have backplate sata ports... are these not the same? isnt the "e" just short for external. The reason i ask, is i'm thinking...

    Kingston SSD - broken??

I've not spotted them, and depredation this quickly? sounds like a pretty serious flaw if thats the case - i understand the SSD tech but going from Raid like speeds to floppy drive speeds sounds a little harsh ;) Cheers RO

    Kingston SSD - broken??

I couldn't spot any software for SSD drive checks on the site, i thought about that before. I have sent a message to thier tech support as well though. Kinda strange that it was fine for nearly a month... Considering they arent mechanical drives - no moving parts etc.. sounds like it must be...

    AHCI? re-install needed?

best way is to try mate :) It used to work on XP ages ago, and yup windows should have all the drivers needed (or at worst the windows install disk). Backup all your important stuff first then go for it mate :) Cheers RO

    Kingston SSD - broken??

Okay tried it in an external drive - tried to copy a 2gb file for sequential write test and started fine 60m/s, evened out to about 35mb/s (as its a usb2 caddy) then after about a gb of file transfer it bombed down to 600k-1mb/s and stayed there .. also when canceling the copy it took about...

    Kingston SSD - broken??

Hey folks, I bought the Kingston SSD, after successfully installing it in a friends computer and seeing just how much nicer windows is when its "SSD" responsive. I bought the laptop kit for my laptop, as the HDD is by far the biggest bottleneck in the system. (Dell 1330 XPS - 2.2ghz Core2...

    50" Plasma, upto around £1200

Yup worked with and a few friends owned a plasma or two.. all the work ones have suffered screen burn to different degrees - and yes this is due to logos on a loop, so to be expected on the other hand the LCDs with the same setup have no issues. Colors looking saturated and pixelated? Thats...

    50" Plasma, upto around £1200

Quite a heated response, Yes I've seen a good few really nice quality plasma screens, I've seen HD material that I've produced as part of my job on a few quality plasma screens, and every time compared to the LCD panels we've viewed the same source on. The LCDs have come up more accurate to the...

    50" Plasma, upto around £1200

I know it was for me mate, which is why i put the quote in, and I totally agree that plasmas can look great, but this is kinda like my point about reference LCD panels - we can both find great examples of each tech. but for the Op and his price bracket I personally think there are better options...

    50" Plasma, upto around £1200

define superior? I personally think the color tech on the Sharp panels offers superior image quality to most plasmas.. and LED panels .. like listed offer considerably superior image quality to the plasmas mentioned. And as i pointed out earlier, talking about color gamuts based on tech is...
