    Lit Fibre

Yeah, splashed across their website is a big banner stating no mid-contract price hikes, so I'd assume that applies to all connections, not just those initiated through the website Needless to say, you're happy with the service if you've resigned for 24mths, right?!

    Lit Fibre

To all those on Lit...with hindsight, would you sign up for a 24mth contract with them? Just had a card through the door to offer 6mths free on their 24mth contracts - £20/mth for 100Mb, £25/mth for 500Mb and £35/mth for 1Gb. Currently on Giganet 500/70 paying £37/mth on a rolling 1mth...

Solid for backhaul runs, stranded for patch cables Cat6 is best bet, as Cat6a less flexible...don't discount Cat5e, it's still more than adequate for most uses

For most cases, an AC Lite will more than suffice. Easy to buy them used too. If buying new, it makes sense to go for a U6 Lite. As mentioned previously, if one AP doesn't provide the required coverage, then easy enough to add in a second.

The problem with this plan is that you're not going to get signal radiating upwards from a downwards facing AP. Therefore, placing the sole AP on the middle floor won't work. It'll need to be placed on the upper floor, then see whether the required signal radiates far enough down to the ground...

    Giganet FTTP

@fcoayuso this thread itself has some moans and groans on it...but like I said above, they're mostly around the CS, rather than the actual service itself

    Giganet FTTP

The service itself is fine, it's the CS which is non-existent...there's a school of thought which says that CS for an FTTP connection isn't really required post-install, but YMMV of course

Exactly how mine was set up with my Aquiss connection that Chris...but mirroring that with my Giganet connection gives nothing. I'll have to have a play EDIT - now working. I gave the DHCPv6 PD48 a go, and lo and behold this time it worked :)

The options in the UDMP are Disabled, DHCPv6 or Static IP. Obviously I don't want Disabled, I don't think Static IP is any use because even my IPv4 address is dynamic, so therefore it's gotta be DHCPv6. So, I therefore think I'm correct in configurng the UDMP to be DHCPv6 PD64, right? A...

*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

Hey folks - I was unsure whether to post this in the Ubiquiti thread, or in its own dedicated thread. However, I'm using Ubiquiti kit to (try and) do it, so here it is ;) Recently switched ISPs, Aquiss to Giganet, and wanting to get IPv6 working again after the move. Not because I need to...

Openreach FTTP - TalkTalk DHCP vs ISPs using PPPoE

Not sure where you heard that, but it's complete rubbish! I placed the order (migration) with Giganet, and it all happened seemlessly behind the scenes. The Aquiss connection went down at approx 00:30 on my go live date, and the Giganet connection was live as soon as I changed over the PPPoE...

Hypothetical question re ISPs bricking routers

I guess the point being that your average ISP isn't likely to go down the route of remotely bricking equipment? Like @Caged said, just bill people if they keep things. Between the point of the ISP supplying the router and the point of them requesting it back upon service termination, I suppose...

Hypothetical question re ISPs bricking routers

I'll take a look on the 'bay... To your answer, this is kinda the reverse though of what I was thinking. I was wondering whether the issuing ISP could possibly 'brick' the device (i.e. block it from being used on any ISP's network), whereas you've confirmed that an ISP can restrict a certain...

Hypothetical question re ISPs bricking routers

Actually nothing to do with Three, and agree that IMEI blacklisting would be much more likely and obvious on a 'mobile network' (xG) router than MAC address (?) blacklisting on a 'standard' router. It's actually something that I got thinking about earlier, when looking for a cheap router for my...

Hypothetical question re ISPs bricking routers

OK, so here's a hypothetical question... Can an ISP brick an ISP-supplied router if said router was resold to a third party? I assume this is technically possible, but only ever undertaken if said router wasn't returned upon a service being terminated (and it being in their T&Cs)?
