I've fixed Sigrotor – was caused by my web host auto-upgrading PHP and breaking some old code. Should be back to normal now (fingers crossed) :) Didn't realise it's still popular!

Tried to make a savoury cake a few days ago. Not quite sure what happened but the oil didn't combine with the flour properly and it ended up essentially being a lump of very oily dough, which started frying when I put it in the oven, with the oil bubbling around the edges of the dish it was in...

The paper gives itself a bad name, actually – it doesn't even need to be parodied. Did you read the genuine ones, or does your doublethink see no problem with them? They're almost as absurd as the parodies.

At least it's better than Fox News. Sure, but in other papers they're covered by actual journalism.

To be honest if you're going to express a complex number in terms of a magnitude and argument, there's no reason to use the trig form when you can use the exponential form. Depends what your course expects of you though, I guess!

Fair enough. The exponential expression is far more concise, though, and it's generally the preferred notation for complex numbers, at least in most applications :) Also, remember to normalize the argument of w* :)

For the complex conjugate, just negate the argument; in this case, arg(w*) = -(2/5)*pi. Also, polar form means it should be expressed as an exponential: w = exp((2/5)*pi*i) w² = exp((4/5)*pi*i) w³ = exp((6/5)*pi*i) w* = exp(-(2/5)*pi*i).

Quite unpleasant, unless you're used to it. You know that falling feeling when drop on a roller coaster? That's what it feels like :)
