WiFi extender connected to router via ethernet cable?

Hmmm yeah, that could be an option. I have used PowerLine at my old house, but never the WiFi versions. What about switching the router (Virgin standard one) to modem mode and getting a really high-end router. Think that would do the job?

WiFi extender connected to router via ethernet cable?

I'm having serious WiFi issues at home. Our router is in a cupboard (not ideal, I know, but it's where the Virgin connection has been wired in). My gaming PC and work laptop are in an adjoining room, maybe 6m from the router. The WiFi connection is really variable, which is a massive pain...

New build - £2k budget (or 2.5k with super-wide monitor) - how does this look?

Makes sense - think I'll go with the 2GB Adata XPG SX8200 Pro then. Glad I asked! :)

New build - £2k budget (or 2.5k with super-wide monitor) - how does this look?

@Sparx - I could certainly do that. I was just more thinking that, without a HDD installed, OCUK won't really be able to test the system... or is that just my lack of knowledge?

New build - £2k budget (or 2.5k with super-wide monitor) - how does this look?

Problem is, I am having OCUK build it for me. Usually build my own, but just not got the time at the moment. Any drives they have in stock you would recommend?

New build - £2k budget (or 2.5k with super-wide monitor) - how does this look?

Thanks - I have just been discovering the same by doing some searches elsewhere. Is the XT worth the extra? Or is the X for around £410 a better bet?

New build - £2k budget (or 2.5k with super-wide monitor) - how does this look?

Thanks @Sparx - TBH I think I borrowed a lot of the parts from specs you have produced, so cheers for that! :) Good tip on the NVMe drive. I haven't heard of Sabrent, but they look decent and it's a nice saving. I was put off AIO coolers for fear of leaking and buggering stuff up - is that...

New build - £2k budget (or 2.5k with super-wide monitor) - how does this look?

Hi gents, I have been planning to upgrade my system this year, but been pushing it back in line with the Cyberpunk release date. Having read other threads, it seems the consensus it to wait for the new Nvidia releases at the tail end of the year. I would therefore propose to use the GeForce...

Spec check - new gaming machine

Thanks @Grimley and @EsaT - I completely see your points. Glad I posted! I'd really like to build a system which can last as well as my old one. That being the case, does it make sense to go for something like: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12 Core CPU Gigabyte X570 GAMING X: ATX (USB 3.2 Gen 1, PCIe...

Spec check - new gaming machine

Hello chaps, It's finally time for a new gaming rig. My old Intel Core i5-2500K build has lasted far longer than I ever expected, but it is finally showing its age. I was considering a CPU upgrade to keep it going, but I think more wholesale changes are required. What would you change? AMD...

    A conundrum, of sorts

Thanks again for all the helpful advice chaps. I think I found the laptop website. To clarify, by travelling with work, I meant I do longish (up to 12 days) trips overseas (generally to the US and Scandinavia). I don’t play any games whilst actually in transit.

    A conundrum, of sorts

Thanks for the replies gents - super helpful, as always! A few questions: 1. There seems to be a strong preference for AMD CPUs these days. Why is that? Just better bang for the buck? 2. Would 32gb of RAM for the main system be overkill? I do like the idea of building a system that could last...

Spec me a (turn based?) strategy game

Thanks for the suggestions so far chaps! I've been researching them all. Endless Legend really appeals, as I love the idea of really unique factions, and strategically, it looks really deep. My main concern is that I just don't have the gaming time to really get into something like this...

Spec me a (turn based?) strategy game

I'm really in the mood for a new strategy game. Here are a few pointers to aid with suggestions: nothing too fast / requiring high APM - I love the setting of SC2, but I just don't have the technical ability to play it well I do love turn based games (more time to think about strategy) I have...

    Battlerite

Anyone playing Battlerite? Picked it up in the Steam Sale and it's pretty awesome! Isometric battle arena game (2v2 or 3v3 - no lanes or other MOBA features), very pure and balanced skilled-based combat system. I'm only just getting into it, but loving it so far!
