Is there such a thing as Power Supply 'incompatibility' - OC-UK RMA PROBLEM

Hi, I recently put an i7/Windows 7 rig together with a Gigabyte-UD5 mobo, Corsair RAM (xms3), Nvidia Quadro and a BeQuiet 650w power supply. Build was having stability issues @ stock with random rebooting/shutdown/failure from coming out of sleep mode. This was happening pretty much from...

    Windows 7 - Random Reboot

UPDATE - Well after some extensive testing I have nailed this problem to being a power supply fault. Actually when I consider the symptoms (random reboots, failure to come out of sleep more etc) this made sense and the disturbing noises that it was making pretty much sealed it for me. Not...

    Be Quiet 650w buzzing noise!

I have the exact same problem - my Bequiet 650w PSU is squeeling like a pig near-constantly regardless of what the PC is doing.

Gigabyte EX58-UD5 and Memory problem - please help

Hi, i'm trying to narrow down a random Windows 7 reboot issue. All my BIOS settings are at default. Looking at the memory though I noticed the board is running the ram at 1066mhz and with timings of 8-8-8-24 compared to the rated 1333mhz 9-9-9-24. Is this a problem? I have the following ram...

    Windows 7 - Random Reboot

Are there any apps that can stress test your computer? I've been out of the PC loop for a while, I remember there being something like this. I want to know if the power supply is playing up.

    Windows 7 - Random Reboot

Thanks for your input, I did see that as a possible fix, unfortuntaely it's happened twice since I disabled the 'automatic restart' on system failure, no blu screen, no error message. I should also mention there are no minidumps or any kind of logs in the my system folder for this propblem...

What Gigabyte drivers/chipsets to install for Windows 7

Same thing here Gigabyte UD5 - i did install the chipset drivers from the CD, although thinking about it that might not have been such a great idea. Windows update of the realtek ethernet driver killed my net as well (disabled the lan adapter and could do nothing to get it back) roll back...

New i7 workstation rig - please advise

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. I've switched to the 1333mhz version of the Corsair 6gb ram kit - i'm guessing this is adequate. I'll see how I manage with 6gb, if I need more, i'm guessing I can get the exact same stuff again. Gone for the WD black for the boot drive - I guess...

New i7 workstation rig - please advise

Had a look at xeons, would have taken the budget way over sadly. Single i7 CPU and quadro should be more than good enough for what I need. I've updated the OP with the final spec im planning to order. Look ok? thanks

New i7 workstation rig - please advise

OCUK say no GPU no system build because of warranty issues, advise was to have it built with a cheap card and then swap it out with what I need. All sounds like too much hassle since the warranty will doubtless only fly with the original GPU in the system. So looks like i'll have to build it...

    What 12GB memory for Gigabyte EX58-UD5 ?

Planning on getting an i7 920 and 12gb ram for this motherboard. I've been told having 12gb ram limits overclocking potential although stock i7 920 should be fast enough for what I need. Can someone advise which 12gb ram bundle will be ok for this motherboard? I've been told 1300mhz is the...

New i7 workstation rig - please advise

New i7 workstation rig - please advise

Budget will be around 800 for all the parts required in OP excluding monitor and gfx card which I already have. The Typhoon prebuilt with stock 17 920 + 12gb looks good, although again I could lose the gfx card. I'll see what ocuk say.

New i7 workstation rig - please advise

8GB ram sounds like enough but 12gb would definitely keep more bases covered looking forward. Sounds a viable option though (if not necessarily cheaper)..which 8GB RAM and mobo would you recommend with that i7 860?

New i7 workstation rig - please advise

JonJ678, thanks for your reply man. Appreciate it. Couple things... First you say the 3.8ghz overclock may not be such a good idea. I'll admit i've never overclocked anything in the past and really I was only looking at the ocUK bundle just because it was supposedly already set up with a bios...
