    Office Chair vs. Gaming Chair

Thanks for the suggestion’s, it does seem a bit crazy you don’t get any warranty in the outlet store, even 3 or 5 year warranty would be a large reduction compared to new. It’s a decent discount, think I’ll hang on until the sale to compare prices before making a decision

    Office Chair vs. Gaming Chair

HM Embody looks incredible but don’t think I can justify 1.5k. Anything close to this for sub 1k price range? Currently using an Ikea office chair: MARKUS Office chair, which is fine but considering an upgrade since working from home more. Also like to game time allowing but sit for prolonged...

    *** Official SONOS Thread ***

I have finally got a soundbar for my rather old but functional Samsung TV only kept going through use of Chromecast with Google TV. Went on the cheaper end with the Sonos Ray and have to say the improvement is definitely noticeable, mainly had issues with hearing dialogue. Fortunately the Google...

Is it worth Buying an Apple Watch?

I used to have a Samsung smartwatch for running mainly for listening to music without carrying my phone, but they stopped supporting it so quickly so jumped ship to the Apple Watch and changed to iPhone beforehand. I find it brilliant for running and am finding it more useful for day to day...

    Password managers

I know you posted this a while ago now but how has your experience been? Considering moving from Dashlane to Proton Pass, as use Protonmail anyway

    Office monitor recommendation?

I don’t think there is going to be much different at the office monitor end of the market, I’m a bit old fashioned and would probably go for a Dell due to good experience with their units in the past. Having a quick look at their offerings looks like this would be over budget. I think an...

    5700X3D and AM4 pricing

Agree with this, might as well go big if needing a performance boost but doing a full platform upgrade is much more expensive suppose it always comes down to your budget and how much of a performance increase is required

    Safest place to sell

If it’s electronics and cex will buy it I often prefer doing that because it’s much easier and has very little risk, you will get less than selling privately but feel it’s generally worth it. Members market is good if you have access but generally prices on there are lower than eBay, but less risky.

Should I be afraid of leakage?

I don’t watercool anymore but loved it at the time and always had a windowed case on my desk so could keep a close eye. I never left the machine running when I wasn’t around just in case, but it was for gaming only so not a problem. I did custom setups and tested them thoroughly before putting...

2024 OLED bonanza take your pick from dozens of new monitors

Yeah I’d agree with this, mainly play FPS games these days (time allowing) and going from 60Hz to 240Hz was incredible but testing I find it very hard to tell the difference going from 144Hz to 240Hz. Think I’d be content with 144Hz for FPS. I’m wondering if OLED is ok for both office work and...

2024 OLED bonanza take your pick from dozens of new monitors

It really depends on what you want, for those who want high frame rates for FPS games for example 4k isn’t a priority nor a sensible decision if you can’t afford a top end GPU.

Password managers! (Fed up of lastpass!)

Same. I should probably see what’s around now as have been using for years, it’s always been solid. Took a while to get the Mrs on it and find sharing certain accounts like online groceries really great.

    AM4 gets yet more CPU's

It offers a nice upgrade for those coming from a nonX3D chip for less money but yes I agree with others I would prefer to buy the 5800 second hand (which I have done). But when you can get both second hand then it comes down to what you have to spend. Gaming performance wise there probably...

    Mortgage Rate Rises

Might not say that to the misses… lol We are considering moving just to have a utility room (hate the washing machine and tumble dryer running all weekend when we’re in the kitchen) and a bigger kitchen to entertain. We had the loft done fairly recently and the disruption from builders with 2...

    What's your CPU upgrade cycle?

Used to upgrade all the time, more for the kicks of new kit and fun of overclocking. Sadly don’t have much free time now to do this sort of thing so only upgrade when I actually need it… so not often these days! Oh to be young again.

Wiring up house - Which Cable (Cat 6/6a)

I agree Cat6. This is what I asked for one our loft conversion but they put in 5e anyway and was quite annoyed but in the end it will do fine for the foreseeable future, only have 500mb fibre coming into the house anyway. Think running extra is good or even better is conduit so you can replace...

How do you game? Upscaling or native? (updated poll choices - 24/12, revote!)

Same card for me but play 1080p (native) and try and hit 200+ fps on my 360Hz monitor

    Excellent service from Apple

The refurb products are like new, bought an Apple Watch and it was faultless, only trouble is finding what you want to buy. I personally don't buy the warranty, my original Mac Air last 10 years, but obviously a bit of it comes down to luck (ignoring children).
