I got mine delivered yesterday, still putting it through its paces, but so far I'm really happy with it. My usage is mostly 'productivity' - WFH and side-projects, and maybe 20% gaming. I'm currently running it at 100% scale on Windows - the text is small but I can read it with my tired old...
Yes but no but yes but no but ;)
Hz literally means per-second. You're right, I could have used clearer terminoligy, but beer. Not 60 FPS, but playable is what I meant to say. Not the 100Hz my monitor can do is another matter ;)
Just paid for Death Stranding but it crashes as soon as I fire...
Just been playing Metro Exodus Enhanced - now obviously this GPU should be able to eat up every current game, but wow how pretty this is. Not 60Hz with all the raytracing on at 3440x1440 but plenty playable at 45+ with loads of bells and whistles.
How much DDR/PCB/GPU Si do you think you're going to get in 2022 for a parts cost of £70-100? Not much - consoles seem cheap because they're subsidised by the game prices. If Intel has a competitive GPU, it will be priced within a few % either way of the rest of the market IMO.
I didn't say it was going to end well, just that I expect the money printing to continue, if not accelerate and so a £500 GPU this year will have to cost £575 next year just to stand still. The central banks will keep telling you that inflation is 1.5% while the prices of everything just rockets...
I wouldn't have thought so - semiconductor prices are still going up, and next year we've got the server world moving off to DDR-5 to look forward to. Not to mention the 15%/year money printing going on - price inflation is here to stay IMO.
Great numbers IMO! I've got to about 15,350 on GFX but my physics is stuck at 15.5K - I reckon due to 3 year old laptop CPU + perhaps narrow link to GPU.
The Ultimate is the XTXH version - I get 1.2v / 350W power-limit @ +15%
Not sure how representative my temps are but I just did a Port Royal run - idle junction temp was 31C, ran at 71-86C max - 9988 points, 10K must be doable!
Just had a quick play on CoD for the first time in months - wow this thing is overkill - I was getting 180-200FPS at 3440x1440, and boy does high-framerate make up for my lousy aim!
That R&C video really does look great IMO. The details in the models, and the 'artistic direction' are amazing. I'm not sure whether the 'amazing detail in photo-mode' mentioned in the review means the game engine has really good LOD handling code (or perhaps some PS5-specific vertex-shader H/W)...
What sort of GPU power draws are you guys seeing during Firestrike Ultra runs? It _feels_ a bit like this thing would go faster if it had more juice! Not that I want to melt mine within 8 hours of unboxing it :)
Thanks - I'd been waiting for a 6800xt since launch, but these be crazy days, and I figured a card in the slot's worth two on me wishlist...
Looks like there's a lot of good overlclocking info on this thread - will have to have a good old look through.
Hi everyone, just picked up a 6900 Red Devil Ultimate for my laptop :)
It's currently spilling out of my Alienware Graphics Amplifier, and despite only having 4 PCIe lanes to play with, it is a shed load faster than what I'm used to - a 1070-MaxQ.
