980ti, 2 monitors. Playing a game and watching a full screen video causes lag (FPS loss)

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome.

    SimCity V (2013) - screens/artwork and information

Should run just fine, either in Boot Camp or whenever they bother releasing the Mac client.

    Carbon Copy Cloner question

For the sake of providing an answer, it can be set up both ways. You can set it so that it will delete anything at the destination that isn't in the source (a proper clone), or you can have it add whatever is in the source to the destination (a never ending backup). There are even more options...

    SimCity V (2013) - screens/artwork and information

They sorted out the login problems around 10ish so I was able to get back in and have a few more games (finished up about 3am). Most of my cities ended up the same way; massive industrial zones on one side, massive residential zones on the other, and a big commercial zone in the middle. With...

    Mountain Lion - some questions

    1. Nope, you're good to go straight to ML. 2. No limit as far as I'm aware. 3. Yeah, saves you the time of downloading it over and over for each machine. 4. Fresh install is fine. Newer macs can do the internet install, so as long as ML is on your account you're good to go. But since you're...

    icloud

No mate, you'd have to restore your entire iPhone from the iCloud backup. If you had it set up it'll be from the last time it was left charging on standby. Once you're done with that you can set up Photo Stream on your PC and it'll stick everything in a folder in My Pictures. On a Mac it'll...

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Possibly. Building was built in the 50s and our flat had never (ever) had a phone line connected (one had been ran from the pole at some point and stapled to the back wall, but that could have been decades ago).

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Exactly. I'm less than 150m from mine and barely get 35/5. :( Other factors are obviously at play.

Valve sued (in Germany) for not allowing Steam users to resell games

There are just two things I want to see from publishers/digital distributers: 1. The ability to disassociate a key from your account. 2. For digital "purchases," the ability to "relinquish" your right to access that title. Titles purchased through Steam or Origin (etc) can be sold back to the...

**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Even better than KOTOR, which is saying a lot :) It's probably about time I had another play through. I've played through all the origins, and a good mix off the classes to boot, but I'm not sure what I want to try now (first play was a Female Human Noble Warrior). Might just play them all...

    Apple Customer Care

Late 2008 15" MacBook Pro went into the Regent Centre Apple Store a month before Apple Care expired to get a logic board replacement (problems with screen flicker due to the native graphics chip) and comes home with the WiFi, BT, iSight broken and still with the original issue. Goes in a second...

Apple announces 128GB iPad with Retina display, available February 5th

They've only just released the 4th gen and you want another one?! :p They need to have a quantifiable improvement in at least one way. They got away with the iPad 3 having the same performance as the 2 by introducing the retina display (even with the added weight). Now that the 4th one was...

Wrong time to get a 360?

Couldn't agree more (with that and the rest). Great catalogue of games, the better part of a year (if not more) of new releases, and some great hardware deals to be had.

Anyone else here still use a fat PS3 ??

Yup, hasn't died yet so no need to replace it, not that it gets much use other than Blu-Rays. Can't for the life of me remember if it's 40GB or 80GB though :D [goes to check emails] It's an 80GB, bought in September '08 :)

Is there a keyboard short cut for this?

It's both thumb & 3 finger flick and thumb & 4 finger flick (I guess it just ignores the extra finger :)). And, as you say, F11 on old keyboards and fn+F11 on newer ones. In addition, I have it set to middle mouse button. Which is really handy when I forget all about it :D CMD + F3 is a...

Aperture 3 workflow - multiple machines

I'd say Dropbox is too small (unless you paid for the extra storage) and has the same drawbacks as your option 2; namely accidentally accessing the same library on both machines at once. Your option 1 (NAS) has the same issue. Best option I'd say would be to keep your library on a fast external...

How much is the iPhone 4S on O2 PAYG?

It's not you, it's because they're not listed on PAYG. They might do differently in store, but that's all the website will do. Looks like you'd have to buy SIM-free and get a PAYG SIM pack; Apple Store has them listed as extras for an unlocked phone.

Apple announces 128GB iPad with Retina display, available February 5th

Ditto. Both of mine have been 32GB and I'm not come anywhere close to filling that. Great for the people [nutters!] who complain that 64GB isn't enough!

Any looking forward to Dead Space 3?

Haven't even finished the first one, so I'm staying away for now :)

Another network issue..1 pc at 1 gigabit, other at 100megabits..why?

You definitely running the correct drivers for the NIC? Grab it from the ASUS site and give that a shot. Unplug, nuke your network connections, update driver and try from scratch.
