    The labour Leader thread...

You really believe that? Based on the evidence Elmarko has presented earlier in the thread, purely cutting spending doesn't reduce the need to borrow and/or debt by the same quantity. I'd be extremely surprised if they meet their "long term economic plan". My take on the Tories winning is...

    Help deciding on a car

Boring, but I'd keep the Focus. It's efficient, you know the car, 20,000 miles a year will hit the depreciation of any car you buy. I'd only change if there is was a specific car that I wanted. In your case there isn't. It seems like you're picking from an uninspired list of options. Cost wont...

We can't be trusted. Are you an expert on the net effect of the EU?

The official I voted/election results thread

To be fair most people just do what they think is right at the time. My one frustration with how people approach politics is how short term they tend to look at it. Everything that politics deals with is part of a complex system. Short term effects shouldn't be the only thing that are considered.

The official I voted/election results thread

I'm pretty certain they won't. There's many an article suggesting that the level of austerity imposed by the Conservatives has harmed growth thus impacting our ability to service and pay back debts. Further increasing inequality and harming the future of the young will just exacerbate the issue...

The official I voted/election results thread

Brilliant:D And we're going to put a referendum on membership of the EU to the general public. An extremely complex issue to ill informed people with short term self centred views. This will be a fun 5 years.

So there's no concern about the longer term effects on the country as a whole and then the knock on effect it would have on you?

Do people actually think like this or are you just being facetious?

What about a Honda Jazz. Classic old person car so it must have a good seating position!

Cameron claims he cares about the most vulnerable

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/big-lie-behind-the-bedroom-tax-families-trapped-with-nowhere-to-move-face-penalty-for-having-spare-room-8745597.html I reckon you're arguing the extreme case actually. From what I've read, the housing stock doesn't match the requirements imposed...

    Need a new car....

Why the 1.8TDCI? I believe the 2.0TDCI is a newer better engine. Also in the C-Max the 2.0 petrol won't be bad. I had it in a standard 2005 Focus and it was reasonably quick and returned 40mpg on mainly A-roads and motorway driving. It wasn't abysmal in town either.

    Need a new car....

Couldn't comment on the risk of buying a diesel. The reason I said diesel is because the petrol variants are the 2.0 or 2.5t. Both will be bad on fuel in a car that size for 15k per year

    E90 320d Touring

I've averaged 35mpg out of my 3.0 Z4. My travel has been mainly 20 mile+ journeys though, but it's still impressive. They are good engines for the performance they give. However, to warrant getting a new car other than just running the Focus till it breaks, it needs to not be too expensive...

    E90 320d Touring

Just managed to get hold of the price lists from 2010. The Saloon in SE Business Edition has cruise control. The Estate however doesn't. Go up to M-Sport and they all have cruise with the side effect of stiffer suspension and larger wheels therefore greater tyre costs. It's completely...

    E90 320d Touring

The Focus is actually pretty good on fuel, it gets 40 mpg on my commute. Also I've just realised the title should be E91 320d :o

    E90 320d Touring

The chain is a concern but I've read they got better from 2009 onwards. The spec is good as standard. The only thing it's missing is Cruise. I've looked at Mondeos in this price range and you don't get much more for your money. Granted a 100,000 4 year old Mondeo is about £1k cheaper but...

    E90 320d Touring

All, Due to a recent change in circumstances resulting in me doing 20,000 miles per annum and the girlfriend no longer needing a car, I'm in the middle of making a swap from owning a Z4 3.0 and a Focus 2.0 petrol to an E91 LCI 320d Touring. I effectively want a car that is good at most things...

    One M8 or S5

My opinion Z3>M8>S5 I don't agree about the M8 having a poor camera though. I had the M7 and for the usual scenarios in which you use a mobile to take pictures i.e. Low light, portraits etc, it's really good. Probably not great for landscapes but what phone is?
