    Laptop Memory Speeds - CPU-Z

I think I have confirmed that it does throttle the memory depending on the demand. I've just run the PassMark memory tests with CPU-Z open at the same time. When the tests were running the RAM speed jumped up to 1600MHz and mostly stayed there while the tests were running.

    Laptop Memory Speeds - CPU-Z

My thoughts too, because the Laptop never skips a beat. When I run benchmarks it does exactly as expected. If the memory was faulty is misconfigured then I would expect that to show in the stability and benchmarks. I guess I would need to run something really intensive to get the RAM to...

    Laptop Memory Speeds - CPU-Z

Just tried HWINFO64, it shows the same as CPU-Z, the memory frequency is constantly changing - jumping between different JEDEC profiles. I've got a video but can't work out how to show it on here

    Laptop Memory Speeds - CPU-Z

Here are a couple of screenshots taken within a few seconds of each other The DRAM speed is constantly swapping between 1596 and 1330 every few seconds it seems. The i5 is a 1235U which supports 3200 RAM The CPU core speed jumps around too. I imagine that it is a dynamic speed control...

    Laptop Memory Speeds - CPU-Z

Hi, Just got myself a laptop - not for gaming, just for office work and to support my hobbies - 3D Printing, Radio Control and programming. It has 8GB of DDR4 3200 fitted, the CPU is an Intel i5. Ran up CPU-Z to look at how it is running and I realise that I don’t understand what it is...

Do you still have the 2x8GB 3200? If so are you thinking of selling it?

    1080P on a 1440P monitor

I don’t know much about monitors. I have been used to IPS and an adjustable stand. So I was recommended this one on here https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-27-mag274qrf-qd-2560x1440-ips-quantum-dot-165hz-1ms-freesync-g-sync-widescreen-led-backlit-gami-mo-015-ms.html It was £450 when...

    1080P on a 1440P monitor

Thanks, that is probably the right thing to do. Will have to put it on hold for a little to buy. I’ve never spent more than £200 on a monitor so it took a bit of deliberating to accept the £450 for the MSI monitor that had been recommended and by the time I decided to buy it is back up to...

    1080P on a 1440P monitor

Yes that is what is worrying me - a game that I can play at 75 fps at 1080P but drops down to 45 fps at 1440P. Not something I can really know without buying the monitor.

    1080P on a 1440P monitor

If you have a game that is a struggle is it best to play at 1440P with lower settings or play it at 1080P with higher settings? Cheers, Nigel

Can My System Do 1440P ?

I am keen on the MAG274QRF but whilst I was deliberating they have increased to £500 in most places. Can still get it for £450 in some places so may have to buy it elsewhere.

    1080P on a 1440P monitor

Hi, I need to buy a new monitor - I was using two Dell 23” UltraSharp ISP, both quite old now and one has recently died. As a replacement, I have decided that I need to move forward rather than buy another 1080P so I have my eye on an MSI 27” 1440P 165Hz ISP. I know that my PC is not really...

Can My System Do 1440P ?

Many thanks for the useful replies. Sounds like if I am to buy a new monitor I should be looking at a 27”, 144P. Any more suggestions of monitors I should look at. The MSI one looks nice but ideally I would like a height adjustable stand, but would rather not be spending an extra £100 or more...

Can My System Do 1440P ?

I use my PC for a mix of gaming, browsing mail and office applications. For gaming, to be honest I have been perfectly happy with 1080P, 60Hz on a 23" monitor. Until recently I have been using two monitors both Dell (LG) ISP 23" monitors but one has died and so far I have not managed to fix...

    SSD and Windows 10 Recovery

Just to tie up this thread. As I said I was able to read the disk, so can get any files off that are needed. I did get macrium reflect and that was able to clone to the new drive but as we were all guessing, it simply made a perfect copy of a corrupted drive. We could have tried a repair...

    SSD and Windows 10 Recovery

My son’s SSD boot disk has failed. Windows 10 froze while he was using it. Hard reset Then froze. Hard reset in safe mode Attempted recovery Got ‘diagnosing issue’ spinning wheel but shortly came back saying can’t be recovered. So far I have connected it to my PC using a USB to SATA...

USB Card Not Starting Up Properly

It is most likely the card going bad but thought I’d throw the question out there in case anyone has seen similar. It is a cheap 4-socket USB expansion card (plugs into a PCI socket). Had it about 4 months now. Didn’t have any issues initially but recently it doesn’t seem to be starting up...

    Fans - In or Out

I wouldn’t have bothered but I have a glut of fans, bought a box of five because it was cheaper than buying four singles. Schoolboy error because I didn’t realise one of the fans needed to be 140mm, which I then had to buy separately. Would have been cheaper to buy 3x 120mm and 1x 140mm but...

    Fans - In or Out
