Think my 5870 has gone wrong

Hi Sckam, I'm going for a replacement after i've tried uninstalling / installing drivers (to check that it is a hardware fault but have got a DVI-HDMI adaptor today and will see if that works (as I have 2 monitors and only one HDMI port)

Think my 5870 has gone wrong

Ok so some progress; VGA Adaptor didn't work but I tried plugging in my Bedroom TV via HDMI and that now works (although it's a crappy 1360 x 768). So it is the mysterious DVI signal issue. Thanks for all the help and pointers! cheers Adam

Think my 5870 has gone wrong

Thanks for the replies. I'll try the VGA adaptor to see if that works. I'm going to propably RMA the card and in the interim the PC builders are going to give me a replacement card (as 58xx are a few weeks away from being back in stock). cheers

Think my 5870 has gone wrong

I've got a Thermaltake Toughpower 600W which is modular so would probably have some spare 6 pin connectors so will check if the ones connected are at fault. I did unplug the two connectors from the card and tried but boot but got the continuous beeps from the motherboard and when I plugged them...

Think my 5870 has gone wrong

I say gone wrong rather than dead as it boots fine into Windows 7 (I can hear the intro sound and can shut down using the shortcut keys) but I have no display signal on my two 2209 Dells. The monitors simply go into power save saying no signal (connecting using the std DVI cables). I tested both...

** Official omg I just got my 5870 thread **

Installed W7 on Saturday and i was surpised with the smoothness and speed of the games I was testing with the 5870 (Crysis on highest settings was fine) and how quiet the 5870 is as well under load...

24" Monitor: TN or IPS Panel??

Thanks for the feedback. The 22" multiple monitors option sounds appealing ( I was considering eventually getting 2 screens) so I'll have to go away and have a think as I would have preferred the higher resolution from a 24". Strangely enough I'm sat in front of a Dell 2209 at work and the...

    HELP - Dead PSU

Hello, It appears that my PSU might have blown (Enermax Liberty 500W ELT500AWT). The PC started to boot up and then froze on the Windows XP load up screen and the lights on my fans started to pulse off and on and then the computer died and i could smell slight burning smell. Know my PC...

    Dead PSU?

Hello, I've just come back from working in the states for a month to find my PC won't start. I thought at first that it was the fuse in the kettle lead so i switched the lead out from one of my other spare ones which i know is ok and nothing. The PSU fans don't turn on or anything. I...

    gaming at 1680x1050

I've got the slightly older 2005 which i can say that you would notice the non-native resolution a little if you were looking. I can defo see the lack of crispness working at 1280x1024 (through a VGA Cable) from my laptop in Microsoft Word but i can honestly say that playing at that res on FEAR...

    gaming at 1680x1050

Hi Foxxx, I've got a 20" monitor and before a couple of weeks ago i was using a Gainward 6800GT GS which was surprisingly good for Source games at native and full candy and BF2 at native and full candy. I've switched now to a 7800GS+ which means that i can run FEAR at 1280x1024 with some...

Any Benchmarks or reviews available for Gainwards 7800 GS+ AGP

Had a search around but i guess it's early days. Just keen to understand how much of a performance boost this actually is over the existing 7800 GS and whether it is similiar to the performance of the PCI-E version, ta

Gainward bring you a 512MB 7800 GT for AGP!!!!

From my point of view i should upgrade to PCI-E motherboard and graphics card, but since i just recently setup RAID i really don't want to have to get a new motherboard and have to setup RAID again and fart around with setting up my pc and restoring backups and alike. I know there isn't much...
