Last year we got 9.7%, I understand our union is asking for a 34% rise. The yearly pay scale increment is 1.75% regardless. Most likely get something less than 10%. Realistically unless you get above 10% you aren’t even getting a payrise just keeping up with rising costs..

When I lived abroad I would get about £10,000 a month and with that money you can enjoy yourself as a single person and still save a lot, not rich at all, but you can enjoy life and not worry about money at all. So I would say that was a good salary, I don’t earn that much anymore.

For London I would say to live comfortably, have a mortgage, eat out semi regularly and go on a holiday or two a year 150K is needed. You can enjoy your life and not be too concerned about money.
