So it's been a number of years since I updated my machine (about 8yrs!!!). That in mind I'm well chuffed with the new rigs speed and >10sec boot time!
I should have done a build project posting for others to check out my options. I've gone with the mini ITX form factor, a Bitfenix case and a...
I would tend to agree with those sentiments. I have a Prodigy case that I'm about to build and the side panel has mesh air vent for the graphics card. A simple side-suck-in|blow-out-back solution would be best rather than dissipating heat into the case. I'll try not to think of any innuendo in...
I thought I'd update the thread here. My replacement handles arrived and now I am a happy chappy :D
I'm quite pleased I didnt have to return the whole case.
I'd suggest a browse on the graphics section of the forums ;) Have a think about requirements other than the GPU such as noise. Some cards can whack out the decibels as well as the FPS ;)
I think there are 49 tubes.
The reason I love corsair is that not only were they privateers working for the King of France, they now earn a little extra on the side with goods aimed at putting the middle classes in their place - awfully strapped for cash by the end of a purchase!
So today was happy days, my BitFenix arrived! All was well and I started to install a replacement 140mm fan when I noticed some broken shards of plastic at the bottom of the case...
I though insignificant at first but I decided to check all the fixtures for to see where the plastic broke off...
noted:)
I knew the gfx was overkill at that price. Around £250 for a card would be more reasonable - i was looking at the Gigabyte ATi Radeon HD 7950 Windforce for example.
Memory - I'll check it out. Is there any preferred option for this board?
SSD - i will stick with that choice...
So here's what I've come up with so far:
YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7970 Lightning BOOSTED Edition 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **OcUK Exclusive** with FREE FARCRY3, Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs & 20% off MOH Warfighter PC Games £379.99
1 x Samsung 256GB SSD 840 PRO SATA 6Gb/s...
Is there any reason you went with the low profile sticks? From the pictures it would appear there is plenty of space...
I'm thinking of an incredibly similar build. I must just copy yours minus all those disks and that PSU ;)
With regards to the 230mm fan - how do you find the noise (and also...
I share some of the sentiments above w.r.t. having a single graphics card as I am not an enthusiast gamer (I got old!). I would want to run two monitors at 1920x1200 for example (gaming can be done on a single monitor).
I wasn't considering an after-market sound-card until I was mentioned by...
I'm about to embark on a new build after many years on hiatus. I had started looking at the loveliness that is the BitFenix Prodigy case until I realised it was a mini ATX.
Apart from the physical space limitations (I will not be too bothered by that) are there any major disadvantages to...
Will take a look.
p.s. I usually try to avoid the posting-without-searching faux pas but it turns out the volumes of messages are huge so I thought I'd test the waters :)
Oh, case needed also! Quiet and not obscene looking (if I can use my old black widow that would be nice but I feelIi need to use 120mm fans so it may be sold off)
Spec me a system worthy of... (for some reason the dormant geek thought of "Build(!) me an army worthy of Mordor") for the lazy ex-enthusiast.
It's been many years since my last build and my machine has given up the ghost (think single core and a sublime Coolermaster 'black widow' case of...
I'll take a look at the Lian Li's I think. The Silverstone’s I'm not so keen on from what I can see. THe Raven looks like a Honda Civic, so that’s a big no no. The Fortress is just too expensively ugly for my needs.
One thing I am sure of is not going for a full tower. I don’t have that much...
