Ok the problem's got worse and now most of the time the system doesn't start at all. Through my frustration i found something ! When i press the button and the system doesn't power on, if i flick the psu switch on and off quickly a few times, the lights come on and then the system powers...

I'm not familiar with your bios, but on mine it wasn't in the memory or cpu overclock section, it was in a seperate advanced tab with "boot guard" and "cool and quiet" took me a while to find it. Maybe yours doesn't have it, but deffo worth a good look. I also remember at the time someone...

I had this problem on my old Asrock board and the setting was called "memory hole" i enabled that to see all ram.

I have a similar problem myself ranging from slow boot to no boot, unplugged the secondary drive and voila. If it is that, try the drive in different ports and different cables to rule that out, i'm still trying to diagnose mine.

I checked all settings and cant see anything wrong, also messed with the drivers with no change. I'll try it in my laptop when i get chance, but i'm thinking the micro switch is faulty. It's pretty annoying when i'm trying to highlight something and it keeps opening it instead :mad: Guess...

Hi, Is the (Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache) still the best drive to go for ? It's to go with my new Intel setup with the Asus P8Z68-V mb, and will be used as the boot drive. Thanks :)

Yep other parts in sig, all i have is the bracket on the heatsink that is installed on my athlon, so i guess it wont fit then, bummer. Although i guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a try, and i can use the retail heatsink until i get another if it wont fit. Thanks mate, much appreciated !

I had a similar problem to this and it drove me bananas, mine was fixed by unplugging everything out the back of the mb ! I'm not sure if there was a short in a usb port or something, but it worked after that, worth a shot anyway mate.
