Who owns one - Cheap track cars

Phone JCWeldfab (01933 274579) and tell them Ross sent you - they sponsor the car (in case that wasn't obvious!) and give favourable prices for referrals. You may be pleasantly surprised :)

Well the car was only a grand lol (and the whole car doesn't owe us more than about £5k I don't think).

Sage advice ^ My RS4 had a giant wet dog in it with <150 miles on from new, and takes dogs every week. It's an estate car - they're made for dogs and prams. :D Most (if kept in check) dont keep the dog smell for sure. Tyre / bodywork advice above is spot on :)

Yeah you see I stuck to what I know for a track car so have a clio! If I had larger testicles I would have probably gone rwd - but I dont :( :D

I come from big hp cars so know what "quick" is - for sure the clio isn't quick ;) But I've never been passed by an mx5 in the clio - ever/anywhere - that's what I guess I'm getting to. Add in some rain and it's an entirely different trackday. The MX5 boys will be having a lot of fun going...

Who owns one - Cheap track cars

We've (touch wood) not had any problems at all from the Clio yet - it's only using consumables like tyres and fuel. It's oil and filter is changed after every 4th trackday and brake fluid bled at the same time - but that's just a precaution. The dephaser needs doing on them as part of the...

on a drifting trackday I guess an mx5 would be good cheap fun, but on a regular trackday I'm not convinced. They're just a bit TOO slow...

My only quattro's have been the B7 RS4, the C6 RS6 (with 730hp so needed 4wd just for that!) and now the B8 RS4 I currently have. I do like driving fast (and trackdays etc) so not sure I could cope without half decent handling.

That's the logic we took - I don't want to stuff my £kk car into armco ideally, so get something designed for the job (trackdays, not crashing). We do generally a couple of track days a month. EP3's are few and far between although see them occasionally - there's generally lots of clios, E36...

yep that's about right - 6-8mpg is the hit from what I've read from others. I've never had a non-quattro car myself though.

I'll remind you of that when the snow hits properly :D The Quattro does handle loads better - but if it's not what you want then again - not my choice. Sounds like you've already made your mind up though?

Don't lose sleep over the miles. A well looked after higher mileage car is normally always better than a poorly maintained low mileage one. :) No towbar is a good catch - and as said means it's not hauled stuff around its whole life.

Just checking out what you've got! Cheap (let's say under £5k all in) track cars. There's loads of good cars out there for this. I drive a Clio 182 cup with a friend for Trackdays - love it to bits. What you got?

I don't like the miles (regardless of it being average for its year) and it's not Quattro but other than that, seems legit c

Haha yep it's confused lots of people! The colour is Merlin Purple, an Audi exclusive colour so you don't see many of them about. They look kinda black in dim light, and quite muted when it's overcast, but in sunshine it's really eye catching. Thank you all again for the kind words.

Yep no problem. I bought the high res version so I could get it made as a poster for my garage. I've done 10+ ring trips now and that's the first really awesome photo I've had of any of my cars! Lovely shot. And awesome he was taking it given the weather was terrible! 3 ;) To be fair, I'm a...

Sold my 730hp C6 RS6 back in June. The RS6 just isn't capable enough for me unfortunately. Blisteringly fast in a straight line (2.9 0-60, 6.5 0-100 and I've done over 200 in it) but I missed my old RS4, so bought a brand new RS4 instead. Slower by some margin, but just a better car for me.

Thanks and yep, I prefer them too - I've 4 large dogs so although they can't all fit in at once, it's certainly easier with an estate car :) And you should get one - they're awesome (if financially draining!). Don't worry. When I need approval from a random stranger on the internet, you'll be...
