Just had a brain wave and think ive sorted it. I wondered if my TV was doing it and on checking i noticed the Size was set to 16:9. I changed it to Just Scan and now 1920x1080 is displaying perfectly on the TV with no Overscan settings at all. Would you agree thats it? :)
